At What Distance Do Nearby Mobs Affect Chest Items?

How close does a mob have to be to a chest for it to affect the levels of the items in the chest?

 

Does anyone know?

 

I think it's in a 40 blocks range

 

Chests are affected by nearby mobs.

E.g. opening a chest with a level 1 next to level 100 mobs will give level 100 loot rather than level 1 loot.

so in theory if i manage to push a lvl 12 mob all the way over to Molten Heights and open a chest with no other mob next to it exept for the lvl 12 mob, i will receive lvl 12 items?

 

That's how I understand it, but maybe ONCE THIS QUESTION IS ANSWERED someone else will be able to provide better and more correct insight.

I too believe that too, but I do not think anyone has investigated the exact distance.

The api doesn't do this.

EDIT:

The API only gives you player/guild/item/etc. stats. Stats in general.

There's no API for the environment.
