Advent Of Ascension.

?

Should I make a damn cult based around this mod? That seems to be the hip new thing these days.

    (Look, @Stag2001 and @ImpulseLlama , I made the thread!)

"Just what the hell is "Advent of Ascension""?

Advent of Ascension is a massive 1.7.10 RPG/Adventure mod which has basically become my favorite mod of all time. It was made by the wonderful and enigmatic Xolova. Xolova's original project was Divine RPG, however, he eventually moved on from Divine RPG, and in July of 2014, released the first version of his solo project: Advent of Ascension.

When it first released, it was named "Eternal Isles", an update somewhere in February 2015 changed it's name to "Nevermine", and then like a month later the name was changed to "Advent of Ascension", though it's still called "Nevermine" at times (don't question it).

It's "full name" is "Nevermine 2: Advent of Ascension".

Xolova is an... interesting fellow, I've known him longer than I've known Wynncraft, the only way to describe him personality-wise is that he's basically Salted + Selvut + Tantibus.

Yeah, the mod's not perfect, there are some weird things here and there, you get used to it after 3 years or so. And if you look past all of that, it's a really fun mod. Xolova is really really good at coding in many many places, though there are small spots where he's not the best. (like all AoA blocks having no explosive resistance)

    ---------------------------------------------
I'll list off some stuff for you to be aware of for the best possible experience.

I love this mod so much, that I've made sure it has influence in Wynncraft itself. the item Grillface is actually named after a mob from Advent of Ascension.

One-by-one I will attempt to sneak in more AoA references to Wynncraft whenever I get the chance.

In some dimensions, when you apply night vision to yourself, the screen goes black. The reason this happens is because of the atmospheric fog present in some dimensions. Xolova has stated he can't fix this without heavily reworking the atmospheric fog. However, if you have Optifine, you can fix this by turning the fog off.

If you can't find the Insert key, there's no need to worry, all you have to is go to the Controls options and change the Insert key to any other key.

A little while back, in order to combat weapons from really OP mods, Xolova added a damage limit that restricts the highest possible weapon damage to 25, however, this unintentionally affects AoA weapons. Fortunately, you can toggle this on or off in the config. In the AoA config, scroll down to where it says "DMG Limit" and change the value to 0.

Yeah, this has been a thing since the Divine RPG days, even if you can't mine a block with a pick, you can still break it with explosives. You won't get far if you attempt to exploit this, exploiting it is more of a detriment as you'll just have a hole to the void you can't fix.

Unless you're @ImpulseLlama , you shouldn't have to worry about this one for the most part.

In the Ancient Cavern, the bosses are fought in various chambers, they are already spawned upon entering, so if your difficulty is peaceful, they will despawn and they will not come back unless you manually spawn them with commands.

    Just... just don't.

    Alright, let me explain.

In early 2016 Xolova hosted a contest for people to come up with a content for a cyber-themed dimension, the winners would be able to beta test the upcoming dimension, Shyrelands, along with some other stuff. I was one of the winners.
After the initial beta testing, in March 2016, Xolova released the 2.5 Snapshot publicly as an extra version of sorts, not sure why exactly, but it's there.

The 2.5 snapshot contains a new dimension called the Shyrelands, it also contains other, unfinished dimensions (Though one of those unfinished dimensions has a finished boss).

The 2.5 Snapshot is fun for messing around, however, it is not suitable for survival worlds. the most recent version that is not considered a snapshot is 2.4.B, that one is suitable for survival worlds.

Not for a while, let me explain again.

Updates have always been through delays, this one has been through the most out of all of them, this delay is on a higher level than Gavel. To give you perspective, 2.5 was originally supposed to release on October 2015.

It was originally supposed to only contain Labricon, and then Xolova hinted at a dimension named Ethereus coming in the update, and then Xolova hinted another dimension called Playtopia coming in the update.
And then in late 2015/early 2016 Xolova hinted Everland, and then Shyrelands. He also revealed that biomes were being added to existing dimensions. Of course, this was "released" in the 2.5 Snapshot, Shyrelands is the only part of the snapshot that's finished.

And then, somewhere in March/April 2016 he revealed that he was working on 2 other mods mainly 2 different Youtubers were paying him to make.
Atlantis Rising is an Atlantis-themed mod Xolova is making for TheAtlanticCraft, the current fate of AR is completely unknown.
Total Coliseum is a mod full of different bosses to fight, Xolova made this mod for Jerome. The current fate of TC is a little unknown, however, the last video of it was only 2 months ago or so, so it's not quite dead.

Jerome (and maybe other YTers close to Jerome) has also paid Xolova to make lots of lucky block mods for their videos, Xolova has addressed this in a post, he doesn't like lucky block mods either, but it makes him money, which he said he's sort of low on right now last time we heard of him. Plus, he's said that they're very very easy to code.

(I have to watch Jerome's crappy videos for research to see if Xolova developed whatever mod they're using in said video)

And somewhere in Summer 2016, Xolova had a minor seizure and had to go to the Hospital for a bit, he's fine now as far as I know.

And in September 2016, Xolova made a post addressing various things like the lucky block mods and such, and that was the last we heard of him. He still goes online on the MC Forums, but he's been quiet ever since, the community is still considerably active.

Some say the mod is dead, but if you do research, it doesn't seem 100% dead, to me at least, I believe the mod is on hiatus and Xolova is reworking the whole thing at this point, until I'm proven wrong, that's what I think is happening.
Despite it's dormant state, I still find this mod fun.

EDIT: Xolova has made a post again! https://twitter.com/MCXolova/status/890673148370313217

In the mod, there are blue mushrooms that spawn in the Overworld, if you punch them you can get free pieces of rare ore from them. This is 100% legit, truuuust me.

Currently, it is possible to mine the Regular and Pure Gold Accumulators in Immortallis, and is also possible to mine the Erebon, Luxon, Pluton, and Selyan shrines in the Ancient Cavern. This is unintentional, and it is not advised to mine them, as it will make progress in said dimensions impossible, since you can't place blocks in those dimensions.

But don't fret, even if you accidentally break one of these blocks, you can always delete the file for that dimension in your saves and have the dimension regenerate. The dimensions have a set generation so you won't lose much in terms of progress.

Another unintended flaw. If you mine a boss statue with something that is not classified as a pickaxe, the boss statue will be gone forever. If you want to move a statue, remember to use a Pickaxe only.

Another thing to note is that boss statues will break instantly upon touching them, Pickaxe or no Pickaxe, so be careful.
    -----------------------------------------------

If you want to know how to progress, go to the WIKI.

This wiki is amazing, it will help you along the way, it's the official one too! (And it's better than Wynncraft's wiki that's for sure /s)

I know this because I've contributed to the wiki before, but I shouldn't take all the credit, for that credit belongs to EatingSilencerForBreakfast, this person alone, is responsible for like 90% of wiki contribution, he deserves more.

    upload_2017-8-23_5-20-15.png

The reason I made this thread is because I feel this mod deserves a little more attention, especially from another community I'm very very familiar with. As far as I know, there are only 5 people in this community that know of Advent of Ascension: Me, Stag2001, ImpulseLlama, Fleega, and @CallOfTheVoid . Correct if I'm wrong.

If you're interested in the mod, have fun, the link to the forum page where the official download is at the bottom right of the Wiki's front page.

i have played both AoA and DivineRPG many times.
theyre good and interesting mods but i got bored.

anyway if you already havent, you should play divinerpg too.
i found divinerpg more fun and less grindy than AoA tbh.
its more fast paced and doesnt have useless empty worlds.

It seems we think the opposite here, as I kind of prefer AoA over DRPG, guess we have different tastes.

DRPG is fun and all and I remember watching so many videos on it back in 2013, but it's much more streamlined in terms of progression, once you beat Vethea there's not much else to do. While with AoA is much more of a set of "branching paths" with more things to do, I've never played Terraria but I know it works similarly to that (maybe) because Xolova has said Terraria was one of his main inspirations for both DRPG and AoA. And, unlike Divine RPG, AoA didn't have developer drama. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
One does definitely take longer than the other.

    I got a little question for ya'll.

Liquid Emerald VS. Lunaver Coin (highest form of currency in AoA), WHO WIN? (AKA which one is worth more)

I mean, there's sort of a clear winner here but I think this little topic would still be fun to debate over.

I haven't played AoA yet, but I'd imagine Lunaver Coins are worth more. This is due to how major deals in the Wynn revolve around stacks and stacks of le. On the other hand, you can't really obtain le without doing quests or trading.

    You are correct.

    1 Liquid Emerald= 64 EB, AKA 4096 Emeralds

1 Lunaver Coin= 20 Gold Coins, AKA 400 Silver Coins, AKA 8000 Copper Coins

And, sort of like LE, Lunaver Coins can only be obtained via trading with a banker for 20 Gold Coins.

If we want to find a true, definitive answer, we would have to compare the value of Emeralds and Copper Coins, which already sounds stressful.

However, I think we can both agree that the true answer is Circus Coins, fuck you Zhight money. /s
