This post will obviously have spoilers so you have been warned
This post will also be very long, so you have been warned again

In this thread I shall try my best to make an objective review of every new and remade quest of the 1.20 Gavel Reborn Update along with some other concepts and characters that I either praise or dislike that are related to these quests.
Also I tried using the spoiler feature in this post but idk what's with the random extra gaps between them :((
Also I can't ensure the quality of every review (Though I did my best) as this took me like 3 hours to write, which was something I was not mentally prepared for.

Honestly think it's a bit more funny (cuz T h e r c k S t a i r s) but objectively a great improvement overall. as not only is it still quick to complete, but you also get a ring that gives XP bonus which isn't bad, especially if you are planning to level other profiles quickly. Only downside is that the Therck set is no more which is quite sad, overall still an improvement of a quest especially for new players.

TLDR: Quest Reward is pog champ cuz xp ring for new players, therck set gone however so big sadge

I honestly forget the original name of this quest, but overall this is a way better improvement of the original. Not only is there 1 less camp to explore, but you don't have to kill a ton of orcs in each camp to get some axe heads, but rather just go in and see what they're keeping. The puzzles and parkour were simple and the quest itself can be quickly finished if you know what you're doing. I also like the idea that the one who stole the fire axe didn't know how to use it, its a small detail but makes sense, these small details can really add a lot to a story experience more than you think (at least for people who like reading dialogue). This remake is without a doubt, way better than the original.

TLDR: Remake > Original, Faster and easier to complete

I've seen people have mixed opinions on the new versions of it and lots of people have been critical on its changes as the Iron Heart series is probably one of the first darkest quest a player would encounter because of its lore and has been a community favourite for years. Personally I think the revamp is much more atmospheric and darker than the original as we get to see more of the pain and insanity the golems go through when they become sentient rather than just a short dialogue of Dr.Urelix saying "Yeah golems are villagers, watcha gonna do about it?". Though this makes the whole process of completing the quest longer, lore wise, is much more impactful than it was before. I believe the remake did a splendid job in remaking the quest as it emphasises just how twisted but necessary the production of golems are in the realm of wynncraft. Also factory helmet is not needed anymore pog.

TLDR: The series is more impactful than it was originally, but now takes a bit longer to complete. Also no factory helmet needed pog

This remake is mostly a meh for me, the reason I say this is because it feels like it's longer than it should be. Though it's kinda cool how you get to meet Elphaba and that after the quest the area is actually reclaimed by the villagers and humans, it just feels unnecessarily long in my opinion. With so many unskippable dialogue and cutscenes for a quest that add little to no story to the lore as a whole kinda makes the quest more boring. I really do like the idea of adding characters that you'd see in later parts of the story earlier as it creates more memorable characters, but the way this remake was handled felt like the quest was just the quest-makers flexing that they knew how to make cutscenes.

TLDR: Meh, quest feels longer that it should be as this quest doesn't really add anything lore wise.

I'm quite divided in this quest as it added things that I liked, but also removed some things I also liked. For starters, I really enjoyed that idea of Axelus joining you to help stop the problem and that the quest encourages the player to enter the "buffer bucie" which I find to be amazing. On the other hand, I dislike that they removed the original plot line of a guy who put his soul in a flower and now that flower is burning, the original plot line felt more interesting than the current one which is just "why dafuq is my house burning, bruh" and cube catching simulator.

TLDR: Decent I guess, not the best change but not the worst either.

    Mr Fluffles Noooo :((
The quest didn't really intrigue me story wise but doing the tasks of the dead guys was kinda fun and the quest is quite quick to complete for players who already did it before. Cutscenes are short and has a decent story to it. I wouldn't say it's way better now, but is personally more enjoyable the the original lazarus pit.

    TLDR: Kinda fun I guess

An extremely well done remake, not only did they maintain the surreal experience of Shattered Minds but the new details like the Frog that appears to you in every stage and the big rat in the shattered forest adds so much more to the experience. The whole concept, puzzles, and parkour are practically the same but they still somehow made the experience more surreal than before. An outstanding remake in all honestly, though this has been regarded as a meme quest for a long time, the remake really made it more interesting.
Also Yahya scared the living christ out of me with his new boss animation (and explosions)

    TLDR: F R O G

For the quest that replaced the Eye of the Storm - This quest is probably the worst quest in the entire 1.20 but for different reasons than Eye of the Storm. Most people disliked Eye of the Storm as the writing was terrible, but to be fair, the gameplay of it wasn't glitchy or hassle to do, if you knew what you were doing it was practically free exp and le. Lexdale Witch Trials has an interesting story, it's just the parkour is extremely cringe. They somehow created a parkour even more hassle than corrupted undergrowth ruins. The problem with the vine parkour in Lexdale Witch Trials is that it's very ping dependent, similar to CUR, it's extremely difficult if you don't have good wifi. CUR is somewhat manageable as you can use skills and that the leeway between jumps is lenient. The Vine parkour in this quest requires almost perfect timing of your ping or else you just straight up fail it - also the fact that while swinging even if you are still in complete reach of the next vine, the game just teleports you back to the start. This isn't a problem for mage cuz TP, but other classes will probably struggle unless they have good ping in the server, the leeway between jumps is just too little. The only good side is that if you fail enough times the game just completes the parkour for you, which is okay I guess??

TLDR: Parkour is somehow a bigger pain in the ass than CUR - but that's just from my experience.

Honestly quite like this quest, adds a bit more flare to the hidden black market running under Cinfras and encourages the player to explore the new air base/dock. My only real complaint is that it feels longer than it should, like in the start of the quest the guy tells you he has only 30 mins before his next flight but you're telling me that we we're able to find clues about Cinfras's hidden black market, killed a bunch of guards, raided an airship, Flew to the Sky Islands, fought the sky raiders, stole a valuable and illegal egg, flew back to Cinfras, sold the egg to the black market, and buy a new passport, all before this man's flight to detlas?? Like bruh, the remake is a hell of a ride but I don't really think it should've been this long. Though the hints to the puzzles were pretty cool though (i.e Seeing a father and son enter the Inn)

TLDR: Nice Remake, but too long for its own good.

This is probably the 2nd biggest revamp quest in the 1.20 update (1st being Realm of Light) and I must say it is somewhat a love and hate relationship. Really enjoy it as the quest encourages exploration and that there are so many things to discover, whether it be free ems or lore, it's quite a great quest in those regards. I also enjoy the idea that your actions have some affect even after the quest is completed, such as the NPCs you help returning the favor after you escape. This quest probably exist to prove that Wynncraft has still a lot more capabilities when it comes to bringing immersion to the player experience. My only gripe with this quest is that rewards are underwhelming. Even if you manage to choose the best choices possible, you still have to go out of your way to get the emeralds that don't even reach a value of 1 le. For the amount of effort and time it takes (especially because of the unskippable dialogues) the rewards are simply too little. It's cool the first time but is horrendous to do it again and again for other profiles a player may have. Though the lore is pretty interesting and the gameplay regarding it is intricate and complex, it's not something I'd be gladly experiencing when doing it with my other class.

TLDR: Fun the first time, hassle the next time, also rewards are underwhelming for the amount of time it takes to complete.

Pro Tip: If you've done the Aldorei questline before 1.20, you have no incentive to let Korben go free, so grab that free 2 le :))

On a serious note, I quite enjoy the revamp version as not only are the puzzles easier, but it's more entertaining because of the chase scene. But my biggest gripe is how it ends, and how it connect to part 2 of the series. As we all know, in part 2, depending on your actions from part 1, you either get praised and be give 10k emeralds or be shamed on by the elves. This is because the whole saga was a test to see if you are greedy or a kind person. In the original part 1 of the series they made it very obvious which is greed and which is fair, which made more sense in part 2 as the player can easily agree that the action they chose in part 1 was either good or bad. The problem now is that the final choice in the new Aldorei Part I is not necessarily clear in terms of morality. For one, the guard says that the city can't be opened if the criminal is still on the loose, there is no dialogue in the entire quest that states that if you surrender Korben to the authorities, you will awarded a great sum of money. If Korben was truly moral, he would have given his father the medicine and then turn himself in, as his intentions were pure, but that doesn't mean his actions shouldn't be punished, he still committed a crime. Even in the last part of Korben's dialogue does he state that he doesn't mind going to prison as he has done what has to be done. In the eyes of the player, neither choice is inherently "selfish." Reporting him can be considered morally correct than not reporting him. Because the player has no incentive to think they're going to get rich (because no dialogue in the entire quest states that). The choice of letting him free or reporting him should be both acceptable. Yet because reporting him gives you the receipt (AKA the BAD ENDING), I feel like it punishes the player as the Elves in part 2 of the series call them "selfish" and "full of greed" when the choice to report Korben could have been of good intentions. Because Aldorei Part 2 was not revamped, this new moral dilemma is simply to problematic to the whole message the quests would be trying to give. In my opinion, this slight change in the whole story practically ruins the whole Aldorei quest line as the choices given in part 1 do not necessarily reflect the intentions of the player's choices.

TLDR: Choosing to report to the guard or let Korben free can be seen as good and moral choices, yet if you choose to report, you are immediately labeled as selfish by the elves because of your "greed" when no dialogue even stated that you'd receive a handsome reward. This change practically ruins the ending of the Aldorei Secret sage regardless of what choice you choose for the reasoning of the elves is now flawed.

Gonna be real here, I didn't get to do the remake, not sure if this is a bug but if you did the quest before the 1.20 update, the quest book tells you to talk to the Mayor of Thesead which then immediately completes the quest. Can't say anything about the remake, but free 1 LE for 5 seconds of work, which I think is a gamer moment.

Being a completely new quest in Corkus, this quest is extremely well done. Similar to the Forbidden prison, this quest encourages the player to explore but I believe is executed better. What you have to do is more straight forward and your choices can directly influence the dialogue you may receive and the approach you have to take. The story is interesting and allows the player to get to know more about the Avos and the Corkians. Ava is also an interesting character and I found myself interested in what she was going to do after every hurdle we face, The quest is well written and wonderfully executed. Another thing I truly appreciate about these quests is that Ava gives you the option to fly straight to your next objective - THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED! This allows the player to not get bored and irritated because they have to go from point A to B then back to A. A quest shouldn't be long because the distances between places are stupidly far (Unless it's hunter's calling). The Feathers Fly allowed me to explore Corkus without the irritation of getting lost while at the same time allowing me to complete the quest at hand. Extremely well done and probs to the writers and makers of this quest. My only petty issue is that we have to climb the plant 3 times before destroying it, I kinda found this off putting as I don't see why I couldn't just kill the core at the spot, but besides that it is an extremely well done quest.

TLDR: 9/10 plant wack but willing to play again.

Another outstanding quest from the update, we finally get to see the legend Siegfried and how much of a fraud he is. What I liked about this quest is that even though it was already hypothesized that he was a fraud years before the update, the team was still able to add a bit of a darker twist of that there are multiple Siegfrieds and that under the statue of Cinfras, there are piles of dead Siegfrieds. The quest adds a lot of lore, encourages exploration, and was quite a journey. It's not too long compared to other quests and it was fun overall. I don't really have any complaints regarding this quest.

TLDR: Siegfried, the Bob of Gavel

The most anticipated revamp that the community is waiting for, and therefore I shall review each individual quest in this quest line. I'll also be talking about Lari's character in this segment.

    Part I - Worm Holes
    - Really like the change compared to the previous Worm Holes, though this one's a bit longer than the old one, it is straight to the point and segments very well with the Grootslang raid. My only complaints on it was that it was quite buggy when I first played it (Though this was only 2-3 days after 1.20 public release)

    Part II - Taproot
    - I like the change in this quest, from the decision to kill the Mayor or Dr. Urelix, to the removal of the fetch quest attribute of the original Taproot, this quest was also straight forward, quite long but I didn't really have any problems with this quest besides a single bug that constantly made the xp orb sound no matter where I went which almost drove me insane.

    Part III - Headless History
    - Lore wise, is extremely well done, adds a lot of character depth and world building and history. Allows us to understand Lari's urgency and why she's rushing things. Though I must admit that it's quite long especially with the unskippable dialogues, I feel that the only real thing I can ask if there would be a /skipcutscene command in the futrue, so that players who already know the story (or simply don't care about the lore) don't have to constantly wait for 5 mins for every cutscene.

Part VI - Finding the Light
    - Well done lore wise and character building wise. We get to see Lari's frustrations push her over the edge and understand more about the war between realms. The Lari boss fight was actually intense and I feel like it might be too difficult for it's level in all honestly (Brought me to 1/3 of my HP as a lvl 103 Warrior, though I was being careless so idk - I was also running Thundercrack so probz just my build tbh) The locations between places are also very close to each other, which is really nice as well, overall, it's very well done.

Part V - The Realm of Light
    - Damn, they really added the backrooms in Wynncraft..
In all seriousness, this quest wasn't too bad as well, there are fights, parkour, and we get to see Bak'al and Lari 1v1, and the quest smoothly transitions to the reveal of the Orphion Raid Lobby, I think this quest is absolutely well done because the map is wayyy smaller than before so Im not worried about getting lost like before. It also makes it so that it's easier to get from place to place. Only issue I really have is that Lari is too damn fast. Other than that I don't really have any complaints. (Also you don't need a helmet to enter the light realm so thats also super pog)

    Realm of Light Saga Review:
Overall, the whole saga is much more enjoyable to be honest, Lari is an interesting character, the lore is more fleshed out, and the quests are less hassle - with the only major complaint being unskippable cutscenes and dialogue I supposed. Though some may disagree, I still think that this revamp of the series is way better than the original.

    Lari as a Character:
Lots of people hate on Lari, but honestly she is the most well written character in the entire story (Only second to my boi, the Seaskipper). I don't really understand why people call her a baby when she gets frustrated as her frustration is almost completely understandable, 90% sure that if you were in her situation you would have acted the same. Imagine being chosen to save Gavel and struggle with it for 1000 years or so, then suddenly this bloke from some dying province shows up, gets blessed by the Light God himself, and straight up makes more progress than you in a week after spending 1000 years in struggle. She's an interesting and well done character and is probably the only "real" character that the player has ever encountered (as of now). Personally if you can't understand where she comes from or why she acts the way she is, it's probably because you aren't thinking in her shoes. She doesn't kill because that's what the elves have told her for years and she tries to find a way to benefit both sides despite the dark being an absolute threat. Her character and storyline reflects the idea of what it truly means to be good, and that in life, you can't always find a happy ending for everyone. Players can dislike her because she can be annoying and that's fine, but if you dislike her character and how it's written, I feel like you're missing the bigger picture about her and the story she unfolds.

TLDR: Realm of Light is just you flexing to Lari that you are indeed, the real protagonist of the story

To the 5 people who read this post, I hope it was worth the read
