A New Beginning.

This thread is... long overdue. With so many of us back at work or school now, the lore community (and presumably many others) have, inevitably, been quiet. This thread is going to be talking about what happened to Wars of Wynn, and also some plans I have for the next few months, leading into 2021.

Spoiler: Wars of Wynn - What Happened?

I'm going to try and keep this short - Wars of Wynn has been cancelled. A lot of people weren't so enthusiastic about it as I thought they would be, and real-world stuff made it hard to keep up with a game of that scale. If someone wanted to do something like it, with the same name, just feel free to. You don't need my permission.

I'm really sorry and I understand this might be a disappointment for some of you - I felt that it was taking time that was better used for real life, and for the lore community.

Spoiler: What's Next?

Some exciting stuff is coming up. I won't say too much now (I don't want to let you down if some of these things can't happen). Remember that these projects are going to be across the span of 2020 and early 2021, so no rush.

1) Around Christmas, I will be starting work on an informative, longer, video for the WynnTheory channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_VRYvg1H8Jt_Ka3RJBlZHw) about the desert. Again, I don't want to spoil too much, but to give you a taster : most, if not all of the things you think you know about the desert are lies.

2) There's been some thoughts in my mind of a lore community SMP - a place for us to hang out and grow as a community. This is a VERY unformed idea, and might very well not happen. Let me know what you think in the comments.

3) And finally, I'm thinking of potentially starting some "Theorist Workshops" on my channel - basically tips for budding theorists etc. Again, let me know what you think!

Cool to see your break wasn't that long, but maybe you should start a separate thread for your announcements (all of them), so you don't have to keep tagging people or clogging up the thread list ^^

Also, I'd love more theories- the best way to get others involved is by attracting them in the first place, after all.

No worries lad, a rushed and botched game wouldve probably made a a bad impression so if it was better for you to cancel it, then it was good for me, take care and gl in your future projects :D

 

Just as a small feedback about Wars of Wynn: While I really liked the premise, I personally found the two-choices system very limiting, as it severely limits player creativity and the possibility to express yourself and your character. Waiting until you get pinned to choose A or B is in my eyes not very exciting and may be the reason that people weren't so enthusiastic. Although I know that a more open system would probably result in even more work, as the abilities of the characters and the game world would have to be outlined in much more detail.

 

Don't worry, Its fine. If you do decide to do another season though, I'd suggest making things a bit more open ended, instead of giving us two options, we would have to give answers that we make up. That would actually probably make it easier on you, since it would prevent you from being able to really control the storyline, and instead the players have that responsibility.

Having other people help, and probably doing it at a time where people have more time would also help.

I'm guessing that you and Emolga found an actually good lead?

Can you seriously compile your posts into one thread or post something like this in the forum games section? It's reaching "nice profile post" level and is actually long overdue. Isn't there a Wynn Lore discord server? Why not use that? Why not use Discord DMs? Why not ping on the main wynn discord, even?

This is infinitely more useless and out of place than the meme parody lyrics that were locked for "useless content".

 

Yeah, Magma should just make a megalore thread, and should of just posted the game cancellation notice on the Wynns of War thread.

You getting that peeved over this? I don’t think its that bad, and definitely not as useless as those meme parody lyrics, just needs to be fit in the right place.

He doesn’t have our all of our discord info as it was hosted over forum games to clarify.

I would also note that if you compare it to other "useless" threads this ome actually has more info than most of them

Well I'm not gonna count the discord, like anyone with common sense would. More people know about me and my lore stuff than know about the discord.

And if I put in forum games people would say "only a small part of this is about WoW". And if I only moved the relevant bit to WoW it would be criticised.

AND FOR THOSE PEOPLE TELLING ME TO PUT IT IN A PROFILE POST... wat.
