I've seen a number of posts on how difficult the Beneath The Depths Quest is.
Could the vets comment on strategy?
Vets who had battled in big groups for Bob's Reincarnation or others quests needing a large group.

I have done my quests pretty much solo or with a friend of same level/class. Sometimes a 3rd higher level player helps but not much higher than me. So fighting in a large group would be new to me.

Which class would be helpful in a party that goes to fight Treasure Guardian in Beneath the Depths. I heard in one post that an archer player (L62) was not willing to party up with a warrior L60 to do the quest. Why would that be a discerning factor? Unless it was purely on Levels. I figured a diverse group would help with most damage output. I know the boss is extremely tough as evidenced by a L68 player's video.

I'm wondering how large of a party should we gather to have a chance at beating this boss if we are Lev60-68? Its the highest Lev quest I am doing and of course seems the hardest.

    Thank you....

    EDIT: i'm lev63 Mage

I solo'd him post-Gavel at level 63 or so, it wasn't that hard. Uppercut spam for life.

Warriors can be a very annoying class to do boss fights with because they hit the boss into the air making it hard to aim precisely, especially for archers and mages

I easily soloed him post-Gavel with a mage, and since it doesn't seem like the boss changed that much, here's my strategy:

Hit them constantly while using ice snake to slow them all down, then once they get too close to you, teleport through them. This damages AND blinds them, earning you some time. This is when you use meteor. Make sure to dodge his arrow storm attacks and his minions by going 'round the pillars.

One problem though: Due to several bugs, ice snake doesn't freeze enemies and teleport doesn't blind enemies (Which is why I'm still not moving on to the next floors of ToA), so my strategy partially won't work atm.

Yeah i remember that treasure guardian being tough, but not that tough. I had to change classes to my lvl 75 mage to kill the damn thing for my warrior. it nearly killed my mage too! it is really a good idea to fight that thing with a few friends.

Some players had commented on this quest on another thread that pre-Gavel, the boss was straightforward.

So id better wait for the ice snake bug to be fixed! What levl were r when u solo'd the boss and what weapon(s) supported ur damage? The boss had 14,000+ hp and the surrounding mobs had 2000+ hp (i believe, from org36's vid).
Would mana steal or life steal help while u meteor or ice snake the boss?
    Thanks for the advice!

Im agreeing with you... Gather a party. I was so stressed with unsuccesful fight with the boss, with a fellow mage a few levels lower, that I havent done any quests (finished all L50-59 quests in gavel/wynn) . Kinda bummed thinking my gear isnt the best. I still keep up in the forums to glean some tips and there are plenty about class builds and finding gear from drops. I was thinking Troms unless Prelight or Dark Forest is good for farming?

The best tactic is to keep your distance and hide behind the pillars when he uses his arrow spell. Failing that, you could probably find a safe spot through the tunnel (not in the tunnel, you'll get pin cushioned by his arrows) I'd say bring lots of healing potions. The lava doesn't help, so any spells that will knock the guardian far back aren't really worth using.

I think the best class is mage because then you can easily retreat to heal.

Also; anyone else think he teleports/charges across the room?

Damn, so he DID get buffed... didn't know. This means my strategy might not work even when the icesnake and teleport bug is fixed, so I still recommend you get a party, just in case. Teleport blinding will still help a lot in the fight tho.

I was level 60 when I fought the boss, and I don't exactly remember what weapon I used, but there's a high chance I used Maple, a unique wand, for the fight(Maple's stats changed tho, cus Gavel update, so currently Maple might not work well. Idk.).

I dunno 'bout the last question. If you're asking if mana steal and lifesteal is good for the bossfight, then obviously yes. If you're asking me to choose one of them, I would choose lifesteal, but the reason for that is because I focused mainly on defense and intel so I'm pretty good with mana.

    Remember, USE THE PILLAARRSS.

EDIT: Ok, so I just found out that the new treasure guardian uses a close melee attack and THEN shoots at you, increasing its accuracy. This isn't something I experienced when I fought the boss, so don't follow my advice too faithfully.

YES. Use your terrain to your advantage.

It was kind of easy for me to solo the boss pre-Gavel (im archer) so I'm assuming that it was buffed. My advice is to keep your distance, use Ice Snake if hes gaining ground on you, and don't forget your heal spell. If you do need a party and have people willing to help you, my advice for a party strategy is:
    1. If you have a warrior that has a tanky build, send him to the front to tank the damage and keep the boss away from the rest of the party. If you have more then one warriors, have the most tanky one be the tank, and have the rest of them either do uppercut or War Scream (prefer War Scream)
    2. If you have Archers, keep them behind the warriors and either have them focus fire on the boss or adds, if there are any. Have one of them occasionally use their escape spell to give everyone speed.
    3. If you have other mages, have one of them keep healing the warrior who is tanking the damage and the rest of the party if need be. Other then that, Ice Snake and Meteor should help.
    4. I'm not sure where the Assassin would fit here, but if you do have any, have them use Spin Attack on the boss to keep it stunned. However, do NOT HAVE THEM USE THEIR MULTIHIT. If they do cast it, the boss will be pushed to a different spot, meaning that it may severely damage your mages or archers.
    5. If your Warrior who is tanking getting low on health and you don't have an extra mage, but you do have more then one Warriors, Have the tank rotate between Warriors. For example, Warrior A tanks first but gets low on health, so Warrior B replaces him, and vice versa.

    Good luck :)
