Yesterday, I saw a lava door that was ~ 4x8, so I wanted to challenge myself to make one without a tutorial. Kind of a small thing, but I still wanted to post it here as it took me ~4 hours to build. Pretty self explanatory, but I just wanted to show off my average redstoning skills ;P

Probably the hardest part about this build was to make a perfect pathway. Since the lava needed a 1x1 hole to drop into in order for it not to flow everywhere, I needed to make a vertical double piston extender to not only delete the lava block in the hole, but also the 1x4 area of lava above the hole. While making the vertical double piston extender wasn't all that hard, in order to make it so I had a pathway to walk through instead of having to jump over a small hole each time I used it, I had to make it so the double piston extender had a pause halfway through its retraction. (i.e. pistons go up twice, then go down once, take a ~4 second pause, and then goes all the way down.) Because the pistons would have to clear lava right below the source, I had to find out a way how to clear the lava and the area that you see without destroying the lava source (how I did that)[IMG]
Also, the design I used could very easily be vertically extended (i.e. I could make a 4x100 door if i wanted) but for simplicity's sake, I stuck with the 4x4 design for now.

I may eventually make a world download for this, but for now it won't be.

This is the video I took inspiration from (I just looked at the thumbnail, not the entire video!)

Edit: While I know my design has a lot of unnecessary mechanisms, I do feel as if this was a good step in improving my redstoning skills ;P
