1.16 The Corkus Update - Changelog

Mo’in everyone! It is finally time. Corkus is ready to be released!

If you weren’t aware, Corkus was originally a suggestion posted on our forums by @MrCoffeeTime. The idea was fairly basic and didn’t contain much details, but we grew fond of it over time. We decided to make it a reality and add our own twist to it. We semi-announced on April Fool of last year, but as expected, many of you took it as a joke. Even with Tantibus’ best efforts and propaganda.

Now, enough talking. Here’s the changelog for the Corkus Update!


Corkus Island
Yea well, we had to start somewhere. I know it’s a shock to many of you, but this update brings a whole new island to the game called Corkus Island! It’s a level 85-95 area containing many new mobs, caves, quests, bosses, challenges and a new dungeon! Your journey to Corkus begins at Selchar with the level 83 quest The Envoy I, which will allow you to quick travel to Corkus.

Dungeon
The new dungeon is called Fallen Factory and is level 90. It’s quite the adventure, I recommend it. To be able to enter you’ll have to complete two new quests, The Envoy I and The Envoy II. You’ll also have to find a Key Guardian for each run.

Powder Exchange
Corkus City also contains the Powder Exchange! For a price, you can exchange one of your powders for another one of the same tier. The prices go as follows…

T4 Powder Exchange: 1 Nii Rune
T5 Powder Exchange: 1 Uth Rune
T6 Powder Exchange: 1 LE

Legendary Island
But, Corkus isn't the only island we've added this update. Next to it, you'll also find the new, though smaller, Legendary Island. We thought the Tower of Ascension and The Hive were hard when we made them, but as we added new items and people created better builds, they became easier.

So instead we're doing something far more difficult.

Firstly, this isn't a quest. So if you die, you have to completely restart the challenge. No progress is saved. Rather than grinding mobs, you're fighting a total of 10 bosses. Between fights, you’ll be offered a choice: Quit and keep your loot, or keep going and risk losing or getting better loot. However, there is a small emerald cost for entry.

Somehow, the Corkians have recreated some of your most powerful and infamous foes from across the world. Be ready to fight remixes of classic bosses like The Mummyboard, Death Metal, and the Mechorrupter of Worlds!

Quests
This update also adds 5 brand new quests and 3 reworked quests! Now we don’t want to tell you too much about them because we feel quests are better experienced than talked about, so here is a list of all of them:

2 new Boss Altars have also been added! They allow you to fight strong bosses for a good chance of great loot. The price only being junk items. They are...

Items
Speaking of items… This update brings more than 250 new items! We now have a total of 2504 items (or so, we keep adding more) in the game. Pretty crazy, right?

We’ve also made some slight changes to the drop rate of items. As you reach higher levels, you should start seeing less of the boring items (normals) and more interesting ones (legendaries, rare) dropped. However, it does mean that you will generally see a little bit less items than usual.


Corrupted Dungeons
Some of these new items can only be obtained by completing dungeons. Such as the two new Corrupted Dungeons that have appeared!

Corrupted Underworld Crypt [Lv. 82] - Required Uth Runes + Broken Key
Corrupted Sand-Swept Tomb [Lv. 86] - Required Uth Runes + Broken Key

Corrupted Dungeons location also have changed. You can find every single portal to each Corrupted Dungeon at The Forgery. As always, you need a broken key from a guardian and Nii/Uth runes to craft a key.

Rune
To get these Uth Runes, you will have to hunt Golden Avias and use their feathers on an Uth Shrine. The latter can be found in Corkus and Aldorei, while the Golden Avias spawn randomly in Corkus. What happens after you use a feather? It’s for you to find out! Good luck!

Music
We are also adding 30+ new songs! Most of them made by Xavier with some from Selvut283. They are all available in the Jukebox or throughout the world for your ears to enjoy!

Secrets
As always, we’ve also added a bunch of secrets this update. Of course, they’re secrets so we won’t say too much about them. However, you might encounter this message as you explore the world…

These are called Discoveries. They give a small amount of XP for discovering them. You can only find them once per character, and need a level minimum to receive the XP. The amount of discoveries for this update isn’t the final number, and we plan to add more in the future.

Conclusion
The Corkus Update brings new quests, dungeons, caves, mobs, items, bosses and more to Wynncraft!

We plan to bring it public this Friday, 7th of April. However, if you know us, we usually do updates late on the evenings, which means it might be the 8th for some of you when it comes out. Problems can always arise and slightly push it back, but the plan is this weekend.

If big delays are expected, we'll let you know on the forum and twitter.

We’ve also decided NOT to do a beta test for HEROs only. We know some of you guys were expecting it, but hear us out. Usually, we use beta test to stress-test new features on a large scale. For this update, 99% of the new stuff is content, which we don’t need to stress test the same way as, let’s say, code does. If we were to do a beta, you guys would end up playing new quests just to…. Play them again on your real characters and already have the content spoiled. It didn’t make much sense to us, so we’ve decided to avoid a beta for this time. Keep in mind that we are still in the process of refactoring our code (aka recoding some part of wynncraft), and THAT will need some testing on larger scales.
