    I've been grinding out industrial amount of soul essence and have found that the mechanic by which mob totems spawn mobs has changed. Originally they would just spawn location specific mobs within their radius (regardless of Y values), but now they function quite differently. The radius of the totem is now a detection range, in which it detects any non totem mobs. It then clones them and spawns them from the totem itself. It seems this has a cap on the number of mobs it'll copy, since leading more mobs into the totem radius later in its duration did not add to the clone diversity. IDK what more to add, just make sure the totem copies the mobs you want and not 10+ shriekers cos that really sucks.


    FURIOUS EDIT: Some further testing on both real and beta has revealed that the cloning mechanism is present in BOTH 1.19 and 1.20 and that the new totems are just more specific in their mob selection and spawning.

    Is this chance a positive one in your opinion or did they nerf mob totems?
    Are there less additional mobs?

    I feel it's positive honestly, but it depends. I accidentally filled my totem cap with shriekers instead of void soul roamers and had a painful 5min of teleport blindness spam.
