Hi welcome to my New Concept build series where I share new ways to abuse utilise game mechanic combos to make new and interesting builds!

Builds in this series won't be perfect for all cases, but instead will probably be highly situational, meaning it will be less powerful in some situations. However the most important thing that being focused on here is FUN, may involve requiring the player to adapt a particular playstyle but hey who doesn't like a bit of switcheroo and role play.

Build Info

This build with be base on the mythic earth dagger Grimtrap, playstyle would be fast melee. Grimtrap to me is like a mini Alkatraz but less extreme and with loads of good IDs, my goal here is to make it to do the damage as close to Alkatraz as possible without making it a fully glass cannon!

Decent speed allow you to run up to enemy, punch it a few times then walk over its corpse.

⇰ Star of the build: but yes, a good Grimtrap with high LS can fully counter the negative LS in Knucklebone as max LS in Grimtrap is 780/4, that way you will be fully benefitted by the insane Earth melee bonus, drawback of the build would be -MS that you cannot vanish out if something happens

Final Comment

I think I did a decent job in making this extremely high damaging build without totally becoming a glass cannon, almost a decent Alka build's damage and attack speed without the -ws drawback. Definitely not your usual grimtrap build. Although it suffer from a bit lack of elemental defence but should be tank enough (both HP and SP) to kill your enemy before you die (I hope), I'm sure you'll enjoy speedy lawn mower playstyle we got going on here.

This build is not

Lets see what will happen in both PvE and PvP:

PvE: hits a single mob, loses all mana, literally cannot run or cast spells, dies. (negative MANA STEAL ON KNUCKLEBONES).

PvP: Gets shredded by anything that does any elemental damage except for earth.

I literally stated all these drawback in the post, including a comparison between PvP and PvE, don't need to use caps and "let see" try to analyse something I did already, literally stated the comparison between damage, hp and defence at the start of the thread

PvP is already a lost before you start becoz of short range of melee, PvE is very good becoz of the insane damage you will definitely kill any mobs before u are at risk, the only thing is PvBoss, which the long fight and high dps by the boss may post a threat to you becoz of the inability to vanish out, however high HP and decent defence and some agility will help, note that I have already compared PvE PvP and PvBoss in the thread but I'm saying this again and in detail for you

The goal of this build is for insane damage better than most glass cannon builds but with high hp, having a dps higher than alka melee builds but with positive ws, I stated this is a kind of fast melee instead of any kind of other melee such as tank melee in the start of the thread as well

 

You have to even tested this build yet. I'm. It sure you realize that some bosses have a raw speed effect and can easily catch up to you. Also realize that most every endgame mob does ELEMENT damage, and as a grimtrap melee build myself, (with walkspeed, 12k hp, super fast atk speed & all positive element defenses, I think I know what I'm talking about.

So basically, try this build. Most every Qira floor boss will easily kill you. You also have a noticeable lack of defense or agi (50 def is about 40% reduction) so in many ways this is a glass cannon.

And I've beaten plenty of people with my melee assassin (hint : all out attacks with spins to stun/confuse and let the dps do the work).

Another thing that this build completely destroys is the two greatest aspects of melee builds in pve, and that is the ability to heal itself while in a fight (grimtrap really good lifesteal) and the ability to steal mana (mana steal). On top of that, you're gonna need to find a min ls knucklebones and a really good grimtrap. I'll be posting my build later and I dare someone to actually try this build.

..... you're making no sense here. How exactly are you gonna have 80 in def and agi..??

Having 10k hp doesn't mean that you are a tank and it also doesn't mean you aren't a glass cannon.

You have yet to address the horrible negative element defense.

Here's another thing I noticed: all your items will NEED to have good skill points on top of all the other good offensive stats you need.

In other words, this build makes no sense, requires godly items to even function, is bad in pve and pvp, has horrible element defense, has little defense or survivability.... the list goes on.

In your own words, the build DOES have 6-8k damage (my build has the same if not better). You will be doing about 25k dps (theoretically. This build hasn't even been tested, lol.)

You don't suffer from a lack of element defense.... you suffer from NEGATIVE element defense. There is a difference. When I get home I'll do a more in depth explanation of the problems in this build.

I'll include math about the sp as well.

as i have said many many times already, i'm fully aware of the problems of the build and i've stated the disadvantages of the build on the post

Yet you are saying that this is the "best one out there" and that it's the new "meta". That's my problem with this. You're claiming it's he best without any research whatsoever and without even testing the build. I have no problem with you making this, but those are the problems I DO have.

Oh my god.

This is actually so good. Getting oneshot is not a real problem because Grim has very high thorns; if they try to oneshot you, they die. If you get close and personal, they die.

This is basically a honed version of melee Alka with access to vanish. Definitely a +1 from me, also considering there are lots of items I didn't even know of. Wow:Dd

I see the main issue with this build seems to be with the Knucklebones. The Melee and earth damage is good, but it comes with too many downsides. May I suggest something like Buster Bracer or Bovine Cuff as an alternative?
