I would like to breed these wyverns to a higher tier of wyvern. Would I somehow do something suboptimally if I simply made seven pairs of 1/30s and one pair of 1/30+30/30?

Here's what I've gathered from my breeding research SO FAR:

Get all their limits to max and try to minimize variance in limits between a breeding pair. You should only (and this is still under debate) train the mount that is NOT placed in a food slot. For breeding, try not to mix a "Tier 2" mount with a "Tier 1" mount, meaning wyverns A + B yield wyvern "1". You don't mix "1" with C or D, but breed those two together to create "2" then breed 1 + 2 to get a "Tier 3" and so on and so forth.

Level is irrelevant for breeding. Only the Limit stat matters.

    Mount A:
    1/30/30
    1/30/30
    1/30/30
    1/30/30
    1/30/30
    1/30/30
    1/30/30
    1/30/30

    Mount B:
    20/30/30
    20/30/30
    20/30/30
    20/30/30
    20/30/30
    20/30/30
    20/30/30
    20/30/30

    Mount C:
    30/30/30
    30/30/30
    30/30/30
    30/30/30
    30/30/30
    30/30/30
    30/30/30
    30/30/30

A+B will have the same result as A+C or B+C, in terms of max potential.
