Lightbender Mage performs well in the 1-100 range, but Fruma bosses are designed to punish sustain builds, so it's very bad at quest content there.

As per usual, there is not really a "best" class, but I suppose it depends on what you like in terms of playstyle - if you prefer being tanky, then Warrior is your best bet; damage can be done with pretty much any class, although Archer and Assassin might as well be best for such (the latter has more defense than Archer though, but is close-range); and support can be done by Mage & Shaman, although Mage is probably good at damage, tanking (to an extent), and support (mostly with lightbender anyway).

TL;DR: Warrior for being tanky, Assassin/Archer for damage (depending on whether you prefer close-range & slightly tanky OR long-range & slightly glassy), and Mage/Shaman for support/healing (Shaman is probably one of the harder classes for some beginners, although it does excel at crowd control and whatnot)

Riftwalker is both fun and powerful, so it's arguably the best. If you just want to win though, and don't care about stuff like "fun" and "reasonable amounts of time" paladin is kinda unbalanced.

If it sways you, most classes have a particular archetype for movement speed. Mage has Riftwalker, Warrior has Battle Monk, Assassin has Acrobat, Archer has Boltslinger to some degree (I think all of them get the Escape speed boost but Bolt's is stronger, it might have other powers but I don't play non-LB), Shaman... dunno, but I know one of them has a teleport-to-totem power that's used to fly.

In terms of default movement spells, Mage's Teleport is probably the best; it's iffy on vertical movement, but it's not hard to get your mana regen/spell cost to the point where you can spam it to fly near-indefinitely. Assassin's Dash is... not terrible but not great. Same with Warrior's Charge. Archer's Escape throws you a substantial distance and has the best vertical mobility, but it throws you backwards, making it hard to maneuver. Shaman's Haul throws you to your totem, so it's more complex than most movement spells.

Boltslinger has Frenzy, where attacking gives you walkspeed (there's something else where walkspeed increases your damage,) and yes, its speed boost is stronger.

I'm not in touch with the meta, but I'm fairly sure all the classes are viable right now, so really just... pick the one that looks cool.
