Community Event The Wynncraft Character Popularity Poll - Results

Hello Wynncraft!

Last month, I polled the Wynncraft community on who their favorite characters are, both ingame and on the forums. In the end, I managed to get 226 responses, so thank you to everyone who participated!

As you can tell, this survey has a very low sample size. So, if a character got no votes for example, that probably means that no fans of that character saw my surveys. Overall, this is more of a fun project, and not a compilation of definitive opinions that the CT must now follow or something. I just think it's cool to see where my favorites ended up!

One other thing to mention: there wasn't a level requirement for responding, as that wasn't something I could really enforce. As a result, responses are slightly skewed towards characters from lower-level content.

Respondents listed their favorite character (which counts as 2 votes), and up to 3 runner-up characters (1 vote). Characters will be listed in this thread from most to least votes! I'll also be adding my own comments on any characters in italics.

With out further ado, it's time to present the results of my unofficial Wynncraft popularity poll, starting with the man who we all knew would be at the top:

1st Place - Seaskipper Captain [50 Votes]
“Ah, it's what I'm here for, ain't it? Givin' sage advice and sailin' folks around the sea!”

It's easy to see why the Seaskipper Captain has always been a fan favorite. He's helpful, has a ton of funny dialogue, and expands on the worldbuilding... but there's another cool thing about him that isn't brought up much. He's kind of a representation of Wynn's community. Think about it: a lot of his dialogue is community made or references inside jokes. So for a MMORPG, this is a pretty sweet winner for first place.

2nd Place - Tasim [46 Votes]
"Why did it have to come to this? Why couldn't— why couldn't we all have just been happy?"

As someone who has played Wynn for a very long time, I can't think of a character who has become more positively received over time than Tasim. He began as a minor one-off NPC in a divisive tutorial, and over time he showed up in more and more content until he became the important character he is today. His presence in Fruma and the early-game goes a long way: it seems like players of all levels were fans of him.

3rd Place - Sovereign Zhiraok [40 Votes]
"For my goals, to serve the people, to un-stain the Nasin name, I have to keep working."

Zhiraok is the most popular Fruma-exclusive character! He's also one of my personal favorites, and I am so happy to see him get third place.

4th Place - Aledar [37 Votes]
"Come here often?"

Much like another recruit, Aledar was also popular among players who were new to Wynn or in the endgame. In fact, I think about eight respondents voted for both Aledar and Tasim!

5th Place - Sui [36 Votes]
"...I'm, um, not much of a fighter. But I'm still good with m-medicine, and healing. So... I can help."

This is the other character who I knew would perform very well, and I'm kinda shocked she didn't get even more votes! Whether it's because of her storyline or just because of that one time she ate bread, Sui stands out as a clear fan favorite.

6th Place - Lari [31 Votes]
"Good luck, achara. I will see you soon."

I know some of you will be surprised to see Lari this high, but I'm not surprised at all. She's always had plenty of fans; I don't think any character has received as much art as her for instance. This poll has shown me that plenty of people like her, and I'm glad I could give them the chance to express that.

7th Place - Her Majesty, the Queen of Fruma [26 Votes]

8th Place - Maxie [25 Votes]

"It's a good thing you have the best sharpshooter in all of Fruma on your side!"

Bob was Wynncraft's first actual developed character, so it's really cool to see that players are still fans of him to this day!

At first, I was surprised to get votes for the classes, but votes for them actually make a lot of sense. There's been so much artwork for them over the years, both official and fan-made, that I think plenty of people view each class as their own character. Of course, some of these votes probably came from newer players who misunderstood my question!

In general, bosses didn't do well in this poll at all (with fruma being an obvious exception)

 

I love how both my favorite and least favorite character got the same number of votes. It really goes to show that every NPC is someone's favorite (except for Seluc of course)

 

Bread Enthusiast got more than 2 points im happy with the results

 

Well, Seaskipper deserves the spot! And I like the fact that somebody remembered the hilarious propeller hat guy.

On the other hand, I'm surprised Yusanu and Quill were voted by nobody and Tasim is up in second place, as I've seen many players who stopped liking him that much after Fruma (still, the alt route I still haven't played and the low-level voters played a factor in that)

 

The fact that Yahya doesn't crack the top ten is a disgrace.

 

As much as he's old and iconic, the people who were polled weren't meme character oriented (I know he has the scientist stuff but. He's a crazy man. Obsessed with mushrooms. That has trouble speaking. And is prone to mood swings. You do the math (youve already done the math))

 

As much as I love Yahya, at the end he is more or less a meme character with some lore to explain it.

 

It's really interesting how the meme characters (which I don't really count yahya as) generally didn't do well at all. I was expecting a kobeni's car situation where aledar cart beat out aledar himself or something.

Also it's been funny to see people be more and more positive about yahya over the years, when he was first added he was probably the most reviled fetch quest npc lol.

 

I miss old Mushroom man where the player got to do drugs

 

I think on some level we all envy the crazy guy doing mushrooms in the woods and just having a blast.
