Kill Charon

Hello!

I am not sure if this is the right category to put this question in, but I have tried to win the Underworld Crypt three times now, getting beat to death by Charon and his little friends time after time....

I've tried reading guides saying that I should "summon General Graken" and to kill the healer first, but I can't seem to find the healer and I have absolutely nooooooo idea how to summon anyone to help me with the fight?

Am I stupid? Missing something?

Yeah so Underworld Crypt was reworked recently four years ago.
Before, it was level 27, and the fight was hella different... rather than fighting Charon yourself, he was sitting on his throne summoning undead soldiers, there was a 'battle zone' in between, and there were pressure plates on your side to summon soldiers of your own. Essentially, they would do all the fighting while you would stay back, kill undead soldiers, and summon your own. The strat. then was just to summon Gen. Graken because like two Grakens could kill Charon. Now it's just a typical boss fight, except Gen. Graken is an NPC in the room doing nothing.

tl;dr the dungeon was reworked. If you're having trouble, try to find a better build, level up, or just try till you find ways to eke out a win. Charon does have one gimmick though. Iirc, when he's summoning minions, you can shift at their grave to stop them from spawning. If you want help, you can also try finding similar level people to do the dungeon and join up (plus that means less key expenses!) or putting a party on pfinder

 

For General Graken, you don't summon him yourself — he's a friendly NPC who automatically joins the fight to help tank damage once you progress through the boss phases. If he's not showing up, make sure you're stepping into the main arena trigger area to start the encounter fully.

Afaik, he's just a regular NPC pointing at Charon the whole time, he doesn't interact with the mobs at all. Also, Charon has only one phases. Though he will have a bit of dialogue at the start

Ya know what, my brain skipped over that em-dash as a regular one and the wording, only looking at the actual contents. I see.

 

i didnt really care about the em dash, my main focus is that the message just makes no sense. He doesn't "help tank damage", the boss doesn't have "phases", and there's no way to not "trigger the encounter fully".
