Community Event Who is the best character in Wynncraft? [VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS TODAY!]

Hello everyone!

I've always felt like one of Wynncraft's defining traits was its surprisingly massive cast of characters. Whether it's a recent serious addition such as one of the Sovereigns, someone silly like the Seaskipper Captain, or even a static yet ever reliable NPC like the Detlas Item Identifier, I'm willing to bet there's one (or a few) members of Wynn's roster who's your favorite.

But which of them is the most popular?

I present to you: the unofficial Wynncraft character popularity poll. Through the month of July, you'll have the opportunity to vote for your favorite character(s), and after voting closes, I'll post a thread that shows the results.

In addition to voting for your favorite character, you can also vote for 0-3 runner-ups. Runner-up picks will each count as half a vote.

I don't have any specific criteria for what counts as a character in Wynncraft. Just promise to vote with sincerity.

If you ever change your mind about your answers, just send a new response and I'll delete the old one.

Oh and one last thing: a random participant who submitted a form will get 2 stacks of LE once the poll closes!

Spoiler: More specific voting info

• Your vote cannot be something like "anyone but [controversial npc]".
• You can vote for "The Player" as a character!
• If a character has multiple aliases, they'll all go to the same character instead of being counted separately. Votes for "Sui" and "Water Grass" will all just go to Sui, for example. There is one exception to this: I'm counting the Dern Beast and The Eye as separate characters, as people tend to view them in different contexts (and they might not count as the same being anymore?).
• If you vote for Death, I will assume you're voting for the Beyond the Grave NPC. You'll have to specify if you're voting for the ToA boss.

Now, one thing I do want to address is this poll's sample size. I hosted an event based around voting a few months ago, and I got less than 50 responses. That isn't ideal. I want to try and get as many responses as possible, and there are two ways we can do it.

1) Help spread the word about this poll. Do you have friends or a guild who are passionate about Wynncraft, especially when it comes to the lore and characters? Send them a link to the google forms poll, since they'll likely miss it if they don't check the forums!

2) I'm going to attempt to survey players through in-game shouts. I'm hoping this will lead to some respondents I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. I may or may not make these shouts an LE giveaway (to encourage responses), but if I do, feel free to /msg me even if you've filled out the google form.

Originally, I was gonna do a bracket-elimination battle of the characters after Fruma released... but I soon realized that Wynncraft just has too many relevant characters now. This thread will give even the more obscure NPCs a chance to shine, plus, I think it would be better if people vote for who they like, rather than against characters they hate.

Voting will close on August 4th, so if you're still playing through Fruma or Wynncraft in general, take your time! Results will be posted as soon as possible afterwards. I'm excited to see which character will emerge as the winner.

Graken is not in my shortlist, which may surprise those of you who remember Those Days

 

I voted Two as best, then runner-ups Qira, Soosu, and Rhys. But I also considered the Queen, Rex, and Zeph.

Seaskipper Captain is pretty good. Aster is fun, and I can credit Claim to Heroism to him since it's a story he wrote. Most characters in Fruma are good. Elise and Syndra are superb. The litany would continue if I would bother to continue it.

 

Rhys? There's a Rhys in Wynn? Is he in the last three quests or did I just forget him because Rhysand?

 

These were definitely on my radar, except for this Rhys. I don't do festival mysteries so I can't fully appreciate Aster, and I honestly found myself not understanding Two's writing during certain sections, which is why she wasn't I the shortlist (Still love her character + vibe)

I've had this poll open for a week, and so far, I've gotten around 30 responses. While I'm very thankful for everyone who has submitted a response so far, I'm still searching for a larger sample size.

So, this weekend, I'm hoping to collect more responses by spreading the word through shouts. My plan is to do this via a giveaway, where I give 1stx to a player who messages me their favorite characters (I think this is allowed? Didn't find anything saying I couldn't do it in the rules). If you've already filled out the google forms, feel free to enter the shout giveaway too!

 

People promote giveaways in shouts all the time. It might be subject to the 3 times a day only rule but idk

Oh, by giveaway, I meant something around the lines of "someone who messages me within the next 20 minutes will get a prize".

But now that I think about it, why not give some LE to someone who filled out the google form? Everyone's already been submitting their usernames, after all.

First shout giveaway was a success! I nearly doubled the number of responses, so I'm definitely gonna do at least one more of these another weekend.

Also, from just a brief glance, it seems like the ingame community had very different responses from the forumers, so that's pretty interesting.

 

As for best one I had to go with Sui, I was too invested in her character arc

As for runner-ups I went full Fruma with Mora, Syndra and Zhiroak

But I mean I gotta give a shoutout to my other potential picks; Rex, Soosu, Maxie, Seaskipper Captain, Detective Hart, Bylvis, Graken, Bob, Aledar and, I'll admit it, even Lari herself

 

This is a good way to collect more responses, especially if the survey requires a larger sample. I think the idea of a small giveaway could work well, because people are more likely to pay attention when there is an incentive.

The only thing I would advise is to double-check the rules for shoutouts, because in some communities such things may have certain restrictions. If everything is allowed, it sounds like a fair approach.

By the way, 30 responses in a week is already a good start. I hope to collect more data, because a larger number of participants will make the survey results much more interesting and accurate. Good luck with collecting responses!

 

So, I've decided to go ahead with this. Once the poll closes, I'll be giving out 2 stacks of LE to a random respondent!

As far as numbers go, I'm very happy to say I've collected 160 responses. About 1/3 of those are from the forums, and 2/3 are from ingame. To everyone who has participated so far, I'm really thankful that you could contribute. I might make one final push for votes during a weekend Anni or something just to reach 200+ responses, since that would be a cool milestone to reach (especially if I get more responses than a previous survey I held).
