A bit of a scam.

I've looked around to see if anyone has made a thread on this, and couldn't find one.
Honestly, I'm not sure it's that big of a deal, but it's something I'm sure a good few people will fall for.
Currently, the rarest Wyvern skin is the Mystic skin, which is being sold for roughly 26le due to its rarity.

These are all the Wyvern's being listed under "Mystic" however.. not all of these are.


Roughly 40% of these, including the one listed for 6stx, are just renamed "Mystic Wyvern" and are not in fact Mystic (It isn't just the insanely overpriced ones, the cheapest ones listed for 10ish LE are also fake, and even some of the mid-price ones). Now, Wyverns, and mounts in general, don't actually list themselves as their skin; they simply list themselves as "Wyverns." The only real way to tell if a Wyvern is Mystic is to click on it and check the type yourself. Every mount that is listed as something other than Wyvern is simply renamed.



The most notable thing about this is the ease with which this may slip under your radar.
Crafteds for example, are obviously fake; it's sort of hard to get a mythic and a crafted item named after one mixed up, however, for this, there isn't a clear distinction, outside the small, kinda hard to see gray text that appears just before you finish the transaction. It's also worth noting that this isn't really a screen people traditionally pay attention to; it hasn't really been needed until now because 99% of all the info you need for a transaction is available on the previous screen.

That being said, this is, at best, a scam, and at worst, just malicious advertising.
I really wouldn't be surprised if a good number of players fall for this, especially returning veterans unfamiliar with the system, or noobs.

 

I was just noticing this on the market. It's not just mystics that are being mislabeled, I was looking at hollows as well and there were a few misleading listings for those as well. I love that the wyvern market's been around for less than two weeks and we're already getting our first scams.

 

If I interpret the rules correctly it should be an forbidden behavior. See this rule:

„Selling something that is grossly overpriced, tricking someone into buying an item that was not promised. If an unidentified item that is advertised wrongly is sold the seller must give a full refund or receive a permanent ban“

So with the rename they tricking someone into buying an item that is named as Mythic but is not mythic and also overpriced. It would from my perspective exactly that what the rule says is not allowed.

It would be interested how the team sees this if we can report that.

 

i feel like the quick and easy solution here is just to have the market call them Wyvern Reins no matter the name. The second step would be to make it display the type in the selection screen like it does in the confirmation screen, and boom!

 

Seriously, I don't know why it doesn't show on the selection screen. Trying to find a specific color is agonizing.

I would just have the market list them as their color, detail color, and mount type.
