    Greetings, are you there?

    [1] Yes.

    Good.

Your arrival here was to be expected.

    You are curious.

    Very well.

    We may begin.

In reality, there exist two planes. One of influence and one of physicality. One of abstraction and one concrete. The Plane of Influences and of Physicality.

The Plane of Influences is a mysterious plane that exists parallel to the Plane of Physicality. Many different realms reside in this plane. However, only three are important. The first two, the Realm of Dern and Light. The two realms hold their respective force, Dark and Light. Capable of changing reality into their own respective design. From objects to lifeforms, they can change all.

These forces also hold a personality, known as Realm Beasts. A manifestation of the realm as the realm is a manifestation of them. These entities would be known as Dern Beast and Orphion, the Beast of Dark and Light. Both hold the ruling dominion over their realms.

They are at constant war with each other. Their struggle for dominionation is to be perpetual by design, as victory results in one side overtaken the plane and consume reality with their influences. This conflict is known as the War of the Realms, the ongoing events that are the root of the world.

Their conflict would create another force. A force that is contained in the Realm of War. A force born out of hate, the aftermath of the perpetual strife. The Corruption, the blight upon all itself. Unlike its creators, it does not desire to shape a ‘utopia’. Instead, it desires to bring pain, destruction, and chaos, sparing nothing - not even itself.

Eventually, the clash would find its way to another plane.

The Plane of Physicality. The world itself. Made of elements and shaped by magic. Landmasses separated by a chaotic ocean. Many distant events occurred that forged the world into what it is. Though they are long forgotten. Ancient civilizations formed around this bygone era, only echoes remain in the remnants still standing. Though we must start somewhere. Perhaps the olms.

The Olms were powerful. They mastered magic of all kinds, every element, time, and space was in their control, and many great magical tools and structures were made with this power. Their civilization expanded to multiple lands at its height. Among them is a land that would be called Wynn province.

Wynn was unremarkable land, its land itself is barely touched by magic. In spite of this, the Olms built many wonderful things in their valley. A temple that allows one to visit the past, tools that cleave time, innovation thriving in a lasting peace. They had it all.

Yet, their residence in Wynn however came to an unexpected end following an incident. A great disaster. Time was ripped open at the valley, an unstable anomaly tearing at their civilization. Many fled while those who remained were said to endure fates worse than death.

Fleeing to the capital at the expanse beyond Wynn, they attempted to resume their lives. That is until It came. The darkness. The everwatching filth. The pitch black sky loomed over the capital and one by one, the Olms were taken to It’s realm. Each home and the land mutated in their absence. Among the horror they witnessed in the dark realm, the Olms saw It. The Dern Beast watching with unknown intent, stalking and lingering, unsure when It or if It would pounce. Many lost their minds trying to find an escape. Those who held on managed to find a way through means now swept away by time.

The few found themselves back in Wynn, in the depths of its deepest jungle. They attempted to rebuild their home in spite of the lasting horror, yet this freedom was hollow. The gaze of the beast was still felt by them. It knew where they were. They knew it would return. In fear, they sealed themselves deeper in their city as their sanity burned away along with their living presence within the lands of Wynn.

At the west of Wynn, lies another domain. The origin of a species known as humans, their empire has been formed and always overseen by a queen. She ruled the empire with oppression and tyranny, keeping magic away from the hands of her lowly subjects while they could only look up and worship her as a god. Those who were born with power to threaten the foundation she built would be hunted down. Her rules caused farmers of her empire to seek refuge elsewhere. To start a new life, free from control and hope for a prosperous future.

    To which they found Wynn.

The immigrants arrived in Wynn to no inhabitants, only lingering ancient ruins. The core of the people were made up of farmers, and in turn, agriculture became the foundation of their settlements and branching cultures. Once under the oppressive rule of their empire, magic was still a thing of myth for them and thus it persisted. The echoes of the Olms were incomprehensible to them.

One settlement had grown to become a kingdom that resided in the desert. A great civilization built long before the people of today can remember. Irony was baked into their foundation, Led by an emperor believed to be a god. His subjects bowed before his magical scepter in worship and fear for years on end till his rule cut at the hand of his son. Dying on his own throne of lies and wrath, the kingdom fell from the great sandstorm, burying the kingdom beneath the sand.

What else that happens in this time would be lost due to what to come. During these times, far across the ocean, another set of events took place that would set Wynn’s future in stone.

That land is known as the Gavellian province by its inhabitants. Magical presence is in abundance and is evident by how it has defined each section of terrain. Fantastical, strange, and unusual compared to Wynn, even the Light had found its way to Gavel and become part of its ecosystem. Many lifeforms come to call this area home, especially those who are sapient.

One such is a mysterious bygone civilization. Little is known of them, not even their form. Their only echo are their constructs, the goliaths. An army of stone constructs lies slumber within the Gylia plain. Forgotten of their purpose. Waiting to be awakened by younger and clueless species. The greatest among them are the colossi. Only two of them loom over their respective regions, The Canyon and the Ahms. Those who came to later inhabit the area would come to worship them as great protectors, unaware of their original purpose.

Among the civilizations that worship these protectors are the Doguns, beings of magma and rock, believed to be created by the colossi and their demonic god, Garaheth. They are among the oldest and still living beings. Despite their age and power, they lack ambition. They live unified among the heat of the Heights. However at one point of time, meddlers would come to shift their culture. The younger generation now reject Garaheth, while the old still cling onto the demon.

The Villager, humanoid species of unremarkable. Living in Gylia plains and capable of magic yet not shining from the industry. They quickly advanced and grew in numbers. Upon crowning their first king, they sought expansion across Gavel. Their crusade led to much bloodshed on those already taking host in such regions.

Such bloody conflicts were with those of Orcs, Goblins, Ogres, and Trolls. Sapients believed to be united undergo one origin, the Auray, their progenitor. View as brutish and uncivilised due to their culture and simple way of living. They become victims to the Villager’s expansion. Families were separated, scattered and many desperately tried to survive as the Villagers became the ruling force of Gavel.

After the villagers successfully claim the majority of Gavel in their crusade and become its ruler. After years of peaceful rules, they would fall into civil war at the death of their second monarch. The empire would break into two sides as they fought for the right for the throne. The civil war would end in bloodshed as the victor rose to power and took the throne for good.

A great calamity occurred. The root of it all. An event so cataclysmic, the world marked its calendar around it. The equinox. The Great Opening. All terrible events in the world are rooted in this day.

The elder of the Elves, A great magical species attuned with nature and their culture is shaped by the Light, foolishly believed a vision as a sign of ascension to the Light. So he struck the tree that holds the planes, Guardian Tree. With its falling, the connections between planes were forced open. The physical plane is now a battlefield in the great war and disaster fell upon them.

Responding to the Equinox, the Colossi awakened. With their great power, they could shift extensive sections of land. Yet something was wrong, one of them lost control and its rage shook the earth and tore reality asunder. Sinking the majority of the Ahms region into the void along with itself. As the quake settled, the region would be known as the Sky Islands. A collection of floating landmasses above the endless void.

The Canyon however would survive as the area is within the Doguns’ reach, their presence and magic having the ability to calm the Colossus. Preventing the same fate as its neighbour, yet the canyon would still shift periodically and so many lives were altered by the everchanging land.

Among them are the Dwarves, short humanoid lifeforms known for their craftsmanship; their many strongholds reside in the canyon range. Many of them collapsed during the devastating quake and those who survived fled to the last standing stronghold.

Now in smaller numbers than they ever were, the Dwarves sought to expand. With the Villagers already having taken many parts of Gavel, the Dwarves sought another land. The Heights beyond the Canyon caught their interest. Yet it was the home of the Doguns, who had been residing there for years. Knowing this will be great dishonor, the Dwarven government lied to fuel their advance. Claiming Doguns to be demons, they rally their people to take arms for conquest.

The Doguns War began. A war to conquer the Heights. The Dwarves' army was fearsome and numerous despite their loss. The Doguns attempted to fight against the invaders, joined by dragons allies. Yet the fighting took its toil on the Heights. Many towns and areas were razed by the invaders who sought to cleanse the region of demons.

The Doguns, losing their home and allies, took their last stand. Desperate, they summoned their sealed demonic god to fight off the invader. However even the might of the great demon fell before the Dwarven army. Knowing they were defeated, the Doguns surrendered to the Dwarves in the hope for mercy, however they were shown none. Many were frozen into their eternal tombs, decorating the new Dwarven city, Rodoroc and those who survived fled to the uppermost part of the Heights.

Finally conquering their new home, the Dwarves rejoice. The tales of horrible atrocities became legends of heroic conquest. The Dwarves thrived yet again as their halls are built with the cries of those they wronged. Without the Doguns’ presence, none could calm the Colossus of the Canyon and many fear that soon the Canyon will share the same fate as the Sky Islands.

With the portal to the Light realm open, darkness came in turn. In its stead, the beast sent its weapon onto Gavel. The Parasite. An abhorrence creature that feast on the light to grow in power to enact Its purpose. Along with its spawns, it brought decay onto the region once accustomed to the Light, now being crippled at its absence. The rot formed, the famine followed to which both flora and fauna suffered from the conflict of higher beings.

The Parasite would not go unopposed. During the Equinox, the Light chose its pulse. An Elven girl named Lari. She would become the servant of Light and seek to oppose the Parasite and defend the land against it. Yet she was unguided and uneducated by the Light allowing for her failure to be set from the start. She believed the Parasite to be a creature, and showed it mercy, in turn allowing it freedom. With each escape, it grew in power beyond her control.

On the final hibernation, the Parasite emerged in its apex, leaving the physical plane to strike the Light directly. As well as leaving the land of Gavel to be infested with its spawns. It sought the manifestation of the Light and sank its fang in, leaching the Light from its very source. The scale had been weighed down to the darkness’ favor, increasing ever so gradually as time went on.

Wynn faced the worst. As miners were digging for riches, instead they found calamity. They uncovered the portal to the Realm of War and just as the equinox occurred. The portals were forced open and Corruption was flooding into Wynn province.

Finally facing existence for the first time, the Corruption seeks destruction of all lives. With its hate, the dead were reanimated to bring others to join them. The neverborn spawn from the portal, eager for slaughter and the roots take form around the portal, a monument to Wynn’s greatest scar. The people of Wynn were forced to take up arms for survival, fighting in a conflict that had no apparent end. The Corruption War.

Seeing the chaos, Fruma closed its gate to Wynn, leaving it to fend for its own in. Many cities and towns were destroyed during this early period. Their names are long forgotten by history, and such an era was harsh for humans. The traumas, they will never be forgotten for generations.

For a time, the forces of the undead were led by a warlord. A scourge of Wynn. Bak’al. With his power, the dead overtook many parts of Wynn. Unknown to many, the scourge was the servant of darkness. His motives were unknown yet all equally horrifying as he slayed countless innocents.

Some rose to power to fight against the scourge. Among them are Marius Twain, born with magical might, he sought others like him. His goal was to build a family, a home for magicians that used magic for good. He formed the Twain family.

With the orphans he adopted and trained under his wing, four boys became formidable mages in their own right. With their power, they pushed back the Corruption and brought hope to the people of Wynn. The name of Twain sings with rejoice by all for the heroic deeds. Though not all of them are content with praise, some wanted the means to live rather than just survive. One of them is Theorick Twain.

Within their mansion, the siblings held contempt with one and another. Especially that of Theorick. He believed his service should be lavishly rewarded. A belief that his father disapproved of, leading to a fight breaking out between the two. Since then, Theorick parted ways with him and the rest of the family, allowing the divide between them all to grow.

In a village deep in the forest known as Nesaak, Theorick declared himself as its protector. With his power, the people were safe from the undead, yet they are still fearful of their protector. They saw a tyrant if not appeased. An old man with a bad temper.

Following the eventual death of Marius, the brothers held a funeral. When Theorich arrived, a fight broke out soon after. The contempt they had for one another reached its peak and left the funeral ruined. The family was broken and the future of the Twain Family seemingly ended along with Marius. Yet his will lived on as one of the siblings, Mael awaiting his duty.

Theorick returned to Nesaak, continuing his service until a fateful day would come. A terrible swarm of undead flooded the town. So great not even he could not rid them in time. Seeing a grim future ahead, he ventured out. Into the roots he went, entering the portal to destroy the very source of it all. Though he failed. He saw something far worse and he ran to Nesaak as his mind burned away.

Knowing he had no time left, he froze the region with his power. A last act of kindness to protect the people from undead in his absence. Once a forest, had now turned into a taiga. He entombed himself deep in the barrow and was never seen again. Yet for his actions, he would only be known as the tyrant, and the people still spit his name never aware of his true sacrifice.

With the disappearance of Theorick and the death of other Twains, Wynn would see its hope diminish and the horizon grew ever darker. Only few rose after them to oppose the Corruption, yet still far cry from their greatness.

As Fruma continued to ignore the cries of Wynn, something else emerged from the empire. A group opposing the monarchy sought escaping from her rule. Travelling among the mountains, avoiding the authorities. They soon awoke in their new land, likely swept by the wave. An island near the gate of their previous kingdom. They soon make it their new home, Corkus island.

Not for long, they come across an Avian species called the Avos who deepen in the art of spirituality and attunement with nature. The Avos welcomed the humans with open arms and shared the land with them. In this region where a new nation would be formed, the humans became to be known as Corkians.

Their technology quickly advanced, from small communities to a grand city. All of this from the invention of Electromagic. A mastery of thunder that allows them to create various mechanisms. They made their mechanical servants, the mechs, as a tool to expand their city. However their advancement would come at a cost. The pollution that their machines brought earned the concern and disapproval of their avian neighbours.

They both would live peacefully in this time, though the tension was brewing under from each side. The ambitious Corkians might doom the island or the Avo might put an end to the Corkians to save their home.

Still warring against corruption, those who remained standing lived in fear, the future is even bleaker in Wynn. Militaries failed to protect the people, forced to hide like their citizens from feral undead. All that will change with his birth. The birth of the hero. The Hero of Wynn.

Amidst the chaos of the raid in Ragni, A kingdom that continues to stand in spite of the war. The citizens flee into its sewer for safety. Among them was a mysterious woman. No one knew who she was, if she was a human at all, yet in those conditions she bore a child. Despite everything they could help her, the woman died giving birth to her child. Without its mother, many expected the child to perish.

Yet by some miracle, the child survived. Adopted by a poor woman nearby, she would treat him like her own. She named him Robert. A strange boy with odd skin, an outcast to the people of Ragni. However his time with his adopted mother would not last. Just like any tales in Wynn, tragedy struck.

On the fateful day. The horde caught the city by surprise, killing and injuring many, among the wounded was his mother. Having to end his mother’s suffering, Robert carried her will. He took on the journey that would shape into who he is. With an unknown relic that would be his weapon, he left the kingdom to start his legend.

Robert met different masters throughout the province, learning their art from each of them. Including those of Mael, who was foretold to wait for the boy by his father. In his journey, he would turn his strength to fight for and help others, never giving into vengeance. He did many good deeds for Wynn, one of them being liberating the jungle from its insane protector. He would also earn a new name from this, Bob, which he would come to cherish.

Once mastered what there was to learn in Wynn, Robert would return to his home. Greeted at the sight of Ragni besieged by Bak’al, Robert took action to bring the scourge down. Their clash was great as the scourge could not take account of the hero’s strength. Outmatched, he left, seemingly for good. With the Scourge of Wynn gone, Wynn signed in relief for its upcoming respite.

With their leader gone, the undead broke apart. Now able to be picked off by the now recovered people of Wynn. The legends of the hero would be told for many years to come. They came to respect him as the one who brought peace to the land. The one who ended the era of suffering. The Hero of Wynn.

At an undesignated time and undescribed cause, the chaotic ocean calmed and travel among the waves flourished by the change. Among those who took off were the Villagers of Llevigar. To escape their decaying home, they set sail. After days and days of voyage, they would find Wynn.

Finally reaching the new land, they settled yet it would not be long for the humans and villagers to meet. With a hand shake, the alliance was formed between the two. As a symbol of their unity, the Villagers and the Humans build Detlas. The capital city proudly stands in the center of the province. A symbol of defiance against the Corruption.

With trade established with Gavel, the villagers would introduce magic to their new allies. With that tool now accessible to people of Wynn, their technology quickly advanced with the influx of new resources and knowledge. Not only had they recovered, they were now stronger than ever. They could not only survive but thrive in their home. The tide of war had been shifted.

It would not be long for the Corkians to make contact. Despite their advancement, they were a small population, unrespected by the bigger provinces who still believed the island belonged to the less advanced Avos. Wanting to prove their superiority and respect they deserve, the Corkians sought to invent something new.

The Factory was built, serving as a monument to the pinnacle of Corkian technology. A self operating, mass producing structure, capable of creating armies of mech in matter of days. However the Factory would prove too great for Corkians to control. Its sentience is far too intelligent for them to contain and thus causing the factory to be shut down and have its door closed forever.

Such errors would leave its damage on their land and with the Avos, seeing the ambition of Corkians almost cost them their home, the tension between the two grew to heights greater than ever. Onward the two groups would stray far apart, The Avos trying to live peacefully and the Corkians working on other ways to earn respect.

With the ocean now calm, its capital would be constructed, a refuge for all to rest in their journey. The capital would be known as Selchar, inhabited by peaceful humans and villagers alike. Though they were not alone, pirates and other seafarers traveled among the waves in the vast waters. Continuing to explore the uncharted ocean to their heats content.

Many changes took place as the world opened up and the Hero of Wynn takes on a new journey. In his travels, he saw what other lands offer. Yet through this, he uncovered something else. The root of it all. He plunged himself into the search, trying to unveil the truth. Setting off on a voyage to find an island none thought to exist. In such a place, he’d found a gateway. To somewhere beyond. Somewhere dark. Somewhere eldritch.

He would never be seen again.

However before his absence, one of his allies received letters. Upon his will, they faked his death. The news of the hero’s death shook the world, striking Wynn the hardest. Without their hero, the people of Wynn were once more left to fend for themselves against the monsters of the world. One such being an abomination threatened to bring annihilation, with much effort, the army luckily repelled it. Yet the question lies, how long can the people last without their hero?

Now the world enters a new scene, new threats await to arise and old foes linger in the shadows. The world is yet unknown to the truth and still suffers amidst the conflict of greater beings. The future grows darker as the weight grows heavier on the scale. Eventually darkness will swipe the world in its maw. Maybe a new hero will be born. Maybe a saviour will be created. Maybe someone will put an end to this war.
