SPOILER Fruma speculations, hopes, and general yammerings. [Spoilers for a few story quests]

This will contain spoilers as to certain story-related quests and lore bits.

So, because Fruma is coming out (presumably) in the near-future I thought I might write up some of my speculations, hopes, and general yammerings onto screen. These are just some of my thoughts that I think might be neat, and I hope you'll care enough to read them.

One thing that I think might be interesting is if, much like Aledar accompanying you in A Journey Beyond and A Journey Further when unlocking The Silent Expanse, Tasim would accompany you for whatever quest might unlock Fruma. He was with you during Recover the Past, after all, which is a major source of the in-game Fruma lore we know of as of current. I just think it fits.


You all know of the realms, right? The things parallel with every province (excluding Corkus, and although that could simply be something that canonically exists but is not shown or referenced, I feel that is unlikely due to all of the automaton issues being caused by Antikythera simply exploiting a flaw in her programming). Wynn has Realm of War, the origin of Corruption, Gavel has Realm of Light, and Silent Expanse is parallel with the Realm of Darkness, or Realm of Dern. What if Fruma had its own realm to be linked with?

I think it might be interesting for it to be something like a Realm of Lies, and that some sort of shapeshifting, doppelgänger-like creatures came from there and are imitating humans, blending in. What if Fruma's queen was originally from the realm of lies and escaped from there for whatever reason, and these creatures followed suit in order to drag her back. That's why she's so hush-hush about the presumed war, she wants to seem oblivious in order to not aggravate the shapeshifter people-creature-things and draw attention to herself as the one they are looking for. She might've been some form of monarchal ruler there, or just another one of them and they did not want her to leave. This might also be some reason why the guards in that "Sixth Sovereign" Fruma trailer had crossbows readied and drawn, trained on the party advancing (although the reason for this was most certainly to be ready in the case of one of them attacking suddenly, the more rational explanation).


I was planning on doing a tad bit of research to make sure my random thoughts and knickknacks stacked up against the actual lore that is not just my hazy memory of things from like two years ago, but I'm tired, and these are just random words that have very little meaning, so I am going to bed. I also have not spell and grammar checked, as I usually would with a text this long to make sure the writing flows well, makes sense, no errors, ect.. I hope I didn't make too many mistakes.

 

These have been my personal thoughts on Fruma, just in terms of content:

I've categorised them into what is pretty much certain, all the way to things which will probably happen one day, but unlikely in this update (although if they were in this update, it wouldn't be ridiculous)

I'm looking forward to relishing the details and decorations inside the Fruma region - The small details they've added into the Wynncraft province over the years have made the environment look rich and warm

 

In before deusphage on the realm lore: according to Deus’s interpretation of lore, there are only three realms of influence full stop.
Personally I like most of you r ideas

 

There is a lot of misconceptions here in one paragraph:
1) The Realms are not tied to any Provinces. Gavel just happens to be where the Realm of Light's influence largely is, and Wynn just happened to be between where the Light was hanging out and where the Dark was hanging out.
2) Corkus is not a Province. It also does not have a Realm associated with it. There are only 3 Realms of Influence; Light, Dark, and War
3) The Silent Expanse is not a Province

Anyways introducing a new Realm out of left field would not be great narratively. Especially when none of the three Realms have been fully explored yet.

The reason why "There is no war in the Fruma walls" was removed is because there just ... isnt. It was purely a ba sing se reference, and was actual nonsense given there isn't active battlegrounds or anything in the province.

To elaborate more on this; imagine if a story said that there are 3 siblings. For the entire book the 3 main characters are these 3 siblings.
... Then out of absolutely nowhere, without even there being a hint towards a fourth or fifth sibling, the story completely diverges to start talking about a fourth sibling who had zero impact on the rest of the story.
It just doesn't work narratively. A twist like that requires there to be some allusion to it-- there at least needs to be events tied to a fourth Realm of Influence already before one was just added -- and the truth is we have in canon only three.

An explanation on spell and elements lore

 

Narratively it makes sense. But imagine in Avatar the last airbender you had 3 kids who were each waterbender firebend and airbender. You would expect a earthbender too. It seems strange that there are only two but they can so easily make a third

 

I think sticking to the 3 realms light/dark/war are good. If wynn needs any other big things in lore to expand upon I could see them doing something under the ocean like some type of Atlantis area. I think an underwater hub that is explained to use magic as some sort of bubble around it to explain why we arent swimming would be cool. Also would be something different and you could play around with the lore of why the corruption does not pass the water. One can always fantasize lol (Kraken raid)????.

Putting my imagination aside im hyped FOR FRUMAAAA LETS GOOOO

 

Corruption does, it just struggles.

"Though it is a myth that Corruption cannot pass through great bodies of water like the ocean, the kernel of truth is that it struggles to cross the gap, to the relief of all who live off shore."

 

I guess that makes sense of why general skiens island has corrupted zombies etc on it. Thanks for the lore knowledge I love the lore so its cool for more info.

 

Skien's place has corruption not because it spread across the ocean to there, but for a separate reason

Is there any in game lore tying the reason it struggles to it specifically being because of the water, the depth of the ocean, or some secret 3rd thing where water and ice magic are similar? I always thought it was because of the depth of the ocean, and the fact a lot of the fire-related entities corruption seems to be tied to just aren’t so good with water.

 

It is not yet explained in game, but the least superstitious theory would be, as you said, that fire is typically suffocated by water.

 

I think that the player is actually the Queen and was amnesia-fied by mistake and the Fruma royals are desperately trying to pretend to the rest of the province that she's still in power and are waiting until she (we) return

Huh. I always interpreted the line as more of a metaphor. Maybe not full on civil war, but large civil unrest and maybe protests/rebellion in the province.
Edit: and probably some sort of underground resistance.

 

We go into the Realm of Light at lvl 79 don't we?

Also the murals at the gate pretty much tell you what areas are gonna be in the province, it seems like there are gonna be 4 areas. I'm guessing each of them is based off of one of the four seasons throughout the year. So Auburn Forrest is fall, there seems to be a winter area, and there also seems to be a spring area, and although I can't see it too well I'm guessing one of the murals is based off of summer maybe? If anyone wants context lemme know.

 

how is this related at all. you've also technically visited the Realm of Darkness already. Neither have been fully explored yet. RoL certainly far more than the Realm of Darkness, but there's still stuff to be told
