Hey y'all! The Festival of the Bonfire has returned for 2025, with new rewards, a time-limited minigame, and more! It ends on September 7th.

This year's festival keeps most of the activities you know from last year, but with one big change: the old Bonfire crates have been rotated out, and a new one has taken it's place with 100% new cosmetics: The Fiery Bonfire Crates. This crate is filled with only new cosmetics, including a new type: Emotes.

Regular Crates have also gotten a few extra emote rewards!

    Bonfire Detlas

Detlas has been decorated for the occasion! You may see familiar faces take part in the festivities. Talk to the Bonfire Keeper to learn more about the event and to help him with the daily Hearthflame Hunt.

    The Hearthflame Hunt

Pick up hearthflames from the Detlas Bonfire, and bring them to bonfires scattered across the towns and cities of the world and receive rewards. While carrying a hearthflame, teleportation scrolls are unavailable, requiring more interesting methods of travel.

    Battle for the Bonfire

Head over to the Event Airship in Detlas or open the /partyfinder menu to queue for the return of the limited-time mini-game: Battle for the Bonfire! A 5v5 fight against other players to burn down their flags and light your bonfire! Use various weapons on the map and eliminate the enemy team on your way to their base and gain tokens to exchange for limited event items.

See y'all next time for another update!

Why were the old cosmetics locked behind a paywall? If you had extra cosmetics from the previous festival you can't scrap them with the new oness so you HAVE to buy new crates if you want to scrap old rewards.

I would like to use my old Bonfire cosmetics with the new Fiery Bonfire cosmetics when scrapping to roll for new things. Here's my concerns (for context, I'm returning Hero+ Silverbull subscriber):
    • Currently I can't do that.
    • If I have 0 or 3 cosmetics in an Old Bonfire tier that I want to scrap, great! I can do that. If I have 1 or 2, then I'm crap out of luck and just have 1 or 2 spare cosmetics I don't want and can't use.
    • Fiery Bonfire is as functionally separate from Old Bonfire as Blizzard festival cosmetics are. Except they're from the same festival.
    My Situation
Here's an edited screenshot of my Scrap interface for Old Bonfire cosmetics. (This time last year I got some very exciting news at work so I celebrated by dropping $50 on bonfire crates and (sincerely) absolutely didn't regret it.)
    upload_2025-8-18_16-13-9.png

    Here's some key takeaways:
    • There are 5 class-dedicated Black Market hats in this collection. I have 4 of them. I am missing Shaman. I want Shaman. Badly. My first character was a Shaman and I loved him. It looks so freaking cool.
    • I have lower tier cosmetics I could scrap to gamble for the Shaman hat. But I want to keep most of those too.
    • I have exactly 1 Rare cosmetic - the flameling pet, which I will not use because I am so madly in love with the Giant Rat, Rolling Potato, and (free) Chicken pets I got from the store ages ago. I want to scrap it so I can start getting closer to more attempts for that elusive Shaman hat.
As is, it is impossible for me to use the Festival in-game reward crates to get working toward that Shaman hat again. The thrill I looked forward to is gone.

For comparison, here's what my current Fiery Bonfire stuff looks like.
    upload_2025-8-18_16-24-14.png

And here's some key takeaways of the two screenshots together:
    • I already have 2 Rare Fiery Bonfire cosmetics I could combine with my 1 Rare Old Bonfire cosmetic I want to scrap, if only they could be mixed and matched together.
    • We're pretty early in the Festival run, so between my Silverbull subscription and regular play I should be able to get plenty of these new in-game reward crates!
    • But I don't want just the Old Bonfire cosmetics. I also really like some of the new Fiery Bonfire cosmetics. Like that trucker hat I already have? That's top notch. I'm keeping that forever.
I just asked my guild about why this is the case. The conversation went something like this.

Me: "Why are the old and new bonfire crate cosmetics separate?"

    Guild: "Because they're different."

Me: "No they aren't, they're both bonfire festival crates."

Guild: "Yes but they're different collections."

Me: "Exactly. Why are they different collections? It's the same festival."

Guild: "Because people complained online that new cosmetics dilute the pool for getting what you want."

Me: "That's only true if you don't like any of the new ones. And if that's the case they probably should have run the new ones by more playtesters before launch."

Guild: "Something something grognard blah blah blah neckbeard so on and so forth gatekeeping nonsense."

    Me: "That's stupid."

Guild: "Agreed. They add new cosmetics every year anyways. This calms down one part of the player base but also makes the problems you already noticed. It's hard to make everyone happy, but there's probably better ways to do it than this."

Well, I'm here to propose a few potential solutions. So I can be scrap happy and resume working toward that Shaman hat, but also get all the other nice cool new rewards too.
    • Change it back. Add all Fiery Bonfire stuff into Old Bonfire, relabeling accordingly. Just one collection.
    • Let there be a free toggle option on the Scrap interface where you can change whether your Old Bonfire and Fiery Bonfire scrapping goes just toward one pool, the other, or both. If you have this "Same In Name Only" kind of strategy in future festival crates, this could be adapted from Bonfire-specific to "Festival Crate Reward Pool: Old, Modern, or Both".
    • Let there be a Rank or Silverbull subscription perk where we can mix and match collections when scrapping, or that we can choose which collection scrapped items (from any collections) will be. Even if we can't choose which particular item it will be.
    • Rename the Bonfire festival and Fiery Bonfire crates going forward to something obviously different, so people like me don't think that "Bonfire Festival" should mean "Bonfire Crates".
    • Rename the Old Bonfire crates to something like "Outdated" or "Retired" or "Discontinued" or "Extinguished".
