SPOILER Dark God

I've been levelling up a new character and I got up to the quest Corrupted Betrayel. In the quest Slykaar says this:

"Then I found this place. A dark land. A dark god. A source of power."
"You mediocre wielders of magic have no idea what this world holds."

I'd never really connected it but could the dark god and dark land he's refferring to be the dark beast and Dern.

It could also just mean that Slykaar himself is the dark god and this is his land, however, it could entirely be possible that his dimension is a small slice of Dern especially due to the resemblance between his realm and areas in the silent expanse. Also the line "You mediocre wielders of magic have no idea what this world holds." seems to indicate he is aware of the planes of influence.

It would also make more sense that slykaar became more powerful and could create more poweful creations if he had access to the energy from the realm of dark. However, this could still be very wrong as I'd imagine it would be pretty difficult to break into Dern and slice off a part of the dimension for yourself.

 

I believe the Vial Chest somewhere in his lab has a substance labelled "Dernic Essence"

Unfortunately Wynncraft (especially early game Wynncraft) has a terrible habit of introducing a whole new threat, power, or realm that someone possesses and despite the apparent cataclysmic threat, it's only ever relevant for the quest it's introduced in and even then has little presence and is never elaborated on further.
The same problem exists with Charon and Bak'al (currently).
It would be nice if Slykaar's "realm" and "god" were connected to overarching lore but that's completely impossible unless it's been retconned because the Dern Beast didn't even exist when Slykaar's lore and quest were introduced. Back then "Dern" was just a tie-in for The End because Wynncraft was little more than Minecraft with MMO gimmicks, lore and all, and nothing about Slykaar's lore is any different since then.
I imagine if it really was Dern, they would have rebuilt it to be a little bit more distinct than some generic featureless barren realm with slime.
Also if I remember correctly according to deusphage, Slykaar's "realm" isn't actually a realm of influence and therefore literally cannot be Dern. It also cannot be related to Dern because the only place the realms of influence actually affect is the physical world which means he had to get Dernic Essence somewhere else which isn't really a big deal since there are a surprising amount of Dern-related creatures in various parts of the world.

It's likely just a pocket dimension, like some of the places you can end up using Gawrick's wacky teleports

No, it's a big deal. There are very very few creatures of darkness around, and you can't necessarily get essence from all of them. There's ~5 in the entirety of the Wynn Province (+1 if you wanna count black geist which only leaks out in AJB), ~3 in Gavel, excluding the parasite's sterile brood, and a handful on Dead Island (but dead island is crusty, so I would not really acknowledge it)
The Silent Expanse is known about by the leaders of Mage Island, Aledar, Gawrick potentially (who accidentally teleports you there for a split second), and potentially the Aldorei Elders. It's likely Slykaar would not be aware of its existence on his own, especially when his work doesn't seem to leave the Troms region.

For him to have that Dernic essence, he potentially had to have made contact with a creature of darkness and held audience with it. It's unlikely he stumbled upon one, but he might've learnt how to communicate with one and made contact with it.

While I'm at it,

This line does not indicate that, given the Plane of Influence and the Plane of Physicality are literally two entirely separate realities. They are not the same world at all. He could be referring to the fact that this world is shaped and changed by the influence of invisible powers that be, but theres no indication of him being aware of the Realms of Influence themselves through this line.
It is clear though, at the very least, Slykaar is aware of Dern in some form.

If Slykaar's creations were using dark energy, they would be monstrous and alien, and not slimes made in cloning vats.

 

am i right that there are Dernics at Grookwarts? when we get to the inevitable Grookwarts rework i have a couple things I want.
First I bet yall are gonna want to get rid of the Harry Potter stuff bc JKR sucks
but also its a GREAT QUEST and its in my top 5 easily so i really hope you keep the themes and gameplay
and i also hope you add a little bit more to the dern secret guy

 

There is a creature that is implied to be something exposed to Dernic influence

 

also re-do the air room (it's bad)
re-do the earth room (it's bad)
make the classrooms not empty (it's weird)
thunder room needs to be more intuitive (it's not very clear how the puzzle works/how you interact with it)
how the hells are you meant to know that it's five chickens for shaman room.
The orders for the species is wrong or the professor says the wrong species
Memory activities are dumb in general (wybels)
the crafting one is cool tho.

 

i have only done it once and i picked water corruption species and materials so i only got the ones that you arent criticising

 

i hate this one.
the professor doesn't actually compare any of them properly, so it's total guesswork. (I mean you know that elves and doguns are at the top but I thought that doguns had the highest and I was wrong. It's never stated in the dialogue that Aurayans have less potential than Dwarves, and apart from humans being low we really don't learn anything from the dialogue.)

 

Yeah but back then it was implied to be just Wynncraft's version of the End just like how the old Nether was literally just that: the Nether. "Dern Emigrants" were just endermen, as were Dern Beasts (the mobs). In fact, I think Dern Beasts still are endermen and they were never changed. Don't quote me on that though.

WHERE ELSE WOULD THE REALMS OF INFLUENCE AFFECT? there is the physical plane and the plane of influence, but there isnt much else that we interact with

light + dark = corruption
light realm + dern realm = realm of war (made out of corruption)
the nature of the realm of light and the realm of dern forced the realm of war to exist
the plane of influence influences the plane of influences

that is what i said. the only things the planes of influence can influence outside themselves is the physical plane? of course they can influence each other, but the place where the "influence" has a noticeable influence is on the physical plane
