Are our travel scrolls canon?

We rarely see working travel scrolls used by characters in quests. They don’t seem to require much magical prowess to use. We see Gawricks malfunctioning scrolls merely used by touching (but we seem to have more control over it).

Most characters travel by air or sea.

There are so many moments when a character should’ve used a scroll to escape.

I mean it’s a big plot hole since scrolls aren’t that expensive in terms of emeralds. There a lot of characters with magical powers and/or wealth that could’ve used them (but didn’t).

 

NPCs would use them, but whenever they try, it just says [You cannot use scrolls while in a storyline]

 

Most people are still on the soul point system and every time they use one it permanently removes a part of their soul

 

They are canon, but not too commonly used by people outside of the player. They are referenced a few times in dialogue (outside of just referring to the mechanic), such as in Fallen Delivery.

The mythic weapon Warp also only exists because it was an attempt by Gawrick to produce a transportation method that would surpass teleport scrolls, as described in its item lore.

 

scrolls arent instant and get cancelled if youre hit, they dont really work as a panic button like that

scrolls are also very expensive and i dont imagine theyre a commodity afforded to most people in universe

i have some more in-depth thoughts on scroll lore but idk if i'll ever put them ingame

 

I mean the seaskipper even gives the player a selchar scroll on occasion, so they are known by npcs, that or the seaskipper is just a 4th wall character which wouldn’t really surprise me, does make me frustrated whenever he gives one tho bc it’s kinda useless to have more than one of each scroll anymore

 

They are only 1 le per in price. They are almost instant regardless of the delay.

Souls points come back at sunrise, and this system isn’t still in place anyway. Soul points represent the strength of the soul which you can regain.

 

yes but if you grab one on one class and forget to put it back and then need it on another class it's useful

 

I don’t generally forget to put it back though bc I have a system and it makes me antsy when there’s something missing :’)

I mean it's probably similar to Genshin's teleport mechanic. In Genshin, Teleport Waypoints are canon, it's said that everyone in Teyvat knows they exist but no one but the traveller has figured out how to use them. Maybe in Wynn the player is simply the only person who knows how to use teleport scrolls or is the only one with real need for them.
