❗ Account Safety PSA

This quick PSA outlines general tips about account safety, how to deal with a some of scams that happen in Discord, and how to keep your account safe and secure. Additionally, these tips are applicable to general Internet safety, not just one or two platforms.​

❓ Be suspicious of unsolicited messages/links

• If someone sends an unsolicited:
  • message asking you to buy/download something or
  • link that leads to a suppossed sign-in page/prompt (these are often websites with links that may look like the legitimate one)
• you should not respond/engage. Report the user to:
  • Discord
  • The Wynncraft Moderation Team. Also, include the username and/or user ID and screenshot(s) of what was sent.

⚠️ Never enter anything related to your login information to "verify" your account on external sites/Discord servers

• This includes email, passwords, one-time login code, 2FA code, etc.
• The Discord server account verification phish is one of the primary methods used to steal Minecraft accounts

⚠️ Never run mods/programs from people you don't trust

• Generally, it is safer to download your mods from a reputable website, like Modrinth or Curseforge

️✅ Use two-factor authentication (2FA)

• This will prevent someone from accessing your account if they have only your login information (for example, using a data breach)
• Make sure to store your backup codes somewhere you can access offline!
• Discord 2FA setup information
• Microsoft 2FA setup information

⛔ If your account is compromised, contact the Moderation Team as soon as possible

• You can contact us through Discord DMs, creating a Modmail ticket, or sending a DM on the Forums
• This will allow us to prevent someone from using your account maliciously on our platforms,
• Provide any possible supporting evidence that your are the owner of the compromised account,
• If you discover your account was banned for being compromised, please reach out as well,

Conclusion

• Your account is your responsibility, and that responsibility extends to keeping it safe and secure from external threats, such as phishing scams, infostealers, and other malware out in the wild,
• Discord, Wynncraft, etc. will never ask you for your email, passwords, or other sensitive information,
• This information will not protect you against 100% of attacks (nothing can), but we hope that it better prepares you for suspicious encounters. As always, stay safe out there !
