Last time, I went an entire playthrough—still working on raids and LI—using a limited selection of dungeon items. I wasn’t sure if it was archer itself, or if it was the dungeon items we got at level 80, but, a majority of the game ended up being a bit too easy. (We don’t talk about 70-79.)

So, I decided on something a little more unique: The Seafaring Items Only Challenge (arrrrrgh)
(To add to the general Pirate theme, I’ve made my character Hunted. Plundering to the plunderer will be a common motif, later on)

I’ve always wanted to be a swashbuckling buccaneer, swinging and swiping my way across the sea, through port cities, maybe stashing a bit of buried treasure in me deck. Although, I really struggled to pull from my foggy memory what ocean, beach, pirate, and general sea related items there are…

So, this is for anyone who ever even wants to attempt this—on assassin. A simple guide for level ranges, bosses/world events, and even the items you could want to use. There are potentially more, but, I decided on leaving out a few, like Ultramarine, some Ice Nations items, and Water Relic. (Just didn’t feel right using such good items for the level they’re obtained.) If anyone finds any others, whether a dagger or not, please feel free to comment them

    Anyhoo, let’s get it started:
    Shark Tooth (Lvl: 5)
    Treasure Boots (Lvl: 7)
    Breathing Helmet I (Lvl: 9)
    Hydrogen (Lvl: 10)
    Water Colour (Lvl: 13)
    Nemract Waders (Lvl: 16)
    Alligator (Lvl: 16)
Someone Else’s Knife (Lvl: 19 A debatable one, but, clever regardless. Justify it as I swiped it from someone else)
    Fisher’s Mail (Lvl: 22)
    Beachside Headwrap (Lvl: 23)
    Lake (Lvl: 23)
    Tsunami (Lvl: 24)
    Tricorne (Lvl: 24)
    Selchar’s Famous Breeches (Lvl: 25)
    Potable Buoys (Lvl: 25)
    Styx’s Grab (Lvl: 26 Technically a River!)
    Fishing Hook (Lvl: 26)
    Seafarer’s Coat (Lvl: 26)
    Sea Legs (Lvl: 28)
    Water Mask (Lvl: 28)
New Moon (Lvl: 37 It’s specifically an item obtained from completing half-moon island, so I justified its usage. It’s not all too different from water mask, just 40 more HP and more unique stats)
    Seabreeze (Lvl: 41)
    Breathing Helmet II (Lvl: 43)
    Calamaro’s Sword (Lvl: 43)
    Anaklusmos (Lvl: 53)

    White Water (Lvl: 64)
    Water Relic Dagger (Lvl: 65)
    Sealskin Parka (Lvl: 65)
    Seastone Shank (Lvl: 66)

    Saltine (Lvl: 78)
    Water Sanctuary (Lvl: 80)
    Squid Anklet (Lvl: 83)
    Seagazer (Lvl: 84)
Galleon (Lmao I know I know, it’s not real, just in case I somehow pull one from a chest)
    Fish scale (Lvl: 93)

Silt of the Sea Floor (Lvl: 93)
    Still Water Blue (Lvl: 95)

Dropped off into an unfamiliar land, our first sea faring adventure implores us to jump into the Tidepool Terrace, where my lost shark tooth necklace is waiting for me, not before making sashimi of the local crab and squids. We’re far from plundering any time soon, so, best to be chummy with the locals…

So eager for my return to the sea, I neglected to buy potions! I was roughed up a bit in the beginning, but, nothing like a quick trip to the potion merchant’s storage (I’m sure he won’t mind). I was lucky to snatch some old boots and a helmet from the Maltic Coast’s shipwrecks. Without those, let’s just say my buckle wouldn’t be the only thing swashed.

Onward to the world, as my journey for a pirate’s life goes on…

My chemically conductive cutlass seems to be the shining star. Avast, me rugged soles and studded helm, I need thee to be sharp like my blade, for trouble gleams on the horizon…
My boat’s lost sail will be returned to me, but, not before a bit of bootlicking amidst the landlubbers.

I must be swift, posthaste to glory, for the sea awaits at that dreaded barn…

These nitty scallawags were nothing but a joke. A simple bat, a phony grin, and they fall to my legs in graciousness. Lucky fer me, that general feller had found the tattered remains of my sail, and an old sailing buddy of mine was kind enough to fixer up fer me, before I finally set sail to my greatest challenge yet…

My first sail, I was young, naive; I was eager fer a fight I never knew the meaning of. Hubris made me wary, for I was never this ill prepared before, needing to face the thing that lay beneath the barn itself. Time and time again, I was beaten within an inch of my life, barely escaping the grasp of that bovine monstrosity. Every failure, another moment to plan, another stolen stock from the Nemract bar, and another restock of me lost bounty…

An ol’ friend, a fellow sea-passionate feller, offered me a special powder. Seemed to be concentrating the very essence of the air. Then, I had an idea!

The bar hold a secret stock of mana potions, enough to make us powerful enough to beat this thing, with enough fight left over to balance myself and plan for its next attack. I “politely” asked for the good stuff in the back, before returning with enough of a stock to satiate a village of mages.

Me cutlass took a liking to the swamp, skinning an alligator before my final journey. Finally, my body is covered and my hope is high. It was time to fight, and it was time to win…

Slash, swipe, swing, I cut at the monsters leathery hide. It’s roaring cry rung with an intent to have me dead, whether it leave it in one piece didn’t matter. Its hammer crashed down into the earth, harsher and harsher, breaking bit and piece of the sanctuary with it. My balance is broken, the ground uneven and my mana bank running lower and lower, but this thing just couldn’t quit! It slammed, charged, roared to life with every multi hit in my arsenal…

I saw a moment, a limp in its left leg! Its charge was weakened, easier to predict. It didn’t stand a chance at this point, after I cleaved a mighty strike down its’ shin. With one last cry, it slammed its mighty hammer into the ground, before dropping limp, slowly losing breath, before its chest fell silent.

Finally, the beast was dead, and not without an immense bounty. Finally, I may sail to Selchar, where an ol’ sailor makes ‘is home. That beasts head should be more than enough to strike a deal…

    CURRENT GEAR LOADOUT:
    Breathing Helmet 1 (Level: 8)
    Alligator (Level: 16)
    Nemract Waders (Level: 16)
    Treasure Boots (Level: 7)
    Shark tooth (Level: 3)
Water Colour (Level: 13 Powdered with Air 2)
Set sail for the open waters! My boat yearns for the ports of Nemract, the caves of seavale, and the island of Selchar! Mayhaps I’ll reclaim my lost gear from a journey long forgotten, and a crew far from memory; I do hope to meet them once more…

Ahh… the sea breeze never felt better. Wind in my hair, the splintering of wood beneath my fingers, and the true freedom of setting my eyes to an island, no matter where it be.

Before me trip to selchar, I decided to take a detour to an oddly shaped island, where a monstrous creature awaited my arrival. The blasted thing was starved by some ole coot “taking care of it”, before it turned mad from neglect. I figured it’d be best to give it one final fight, just to see me prepared for the open waters. One detour was all I needed, before I docked for selchar…

An ancient man, from a time before the calming, waited patiently at the docks edge. I believe he glimpsed the head of that bull I strapped to the bow of me ship. He knew what I came for.

Some of the finest gear selchar had to offer, for a trade of me trophy; never a more fitting conclusion and continuation of that things story. Though not in the best shape to use it, I knew these would come in handy for later. Yes, all seemed to be going my way, and, I was set to sail back into Nemract, just for another bit of mingling at the bar. That was, until, a dense cloud seemed to cover the Nemract dock…

I sailed straight forward, in hopes of alleviating my curiosity. However, it didn’t matter how long I sailed, I just kept going. And going. And going…
There seemed no end to the damned thing!
Finally, after some odd 3 hours—around 8 deaths worth of time and attempts :troll:—of sailing, I saw it: Haros.

An entire fleet of undead scallywags, pushing deeper into view, surrounding my boat. They had full intent of making me join them, but I had different plans. Mutineers ‘no place amongst this captains quarters!

I fought valiantly, my handy hydrogen sweeping and swiping through the air, cutting holes into the sea born reality. Under the cover of fog, I hid and struck at every possible moment; they would never board my ship without losing their lives first!

I fought and fought, never backing down for even a moment, but Haros knew better than to go without strategy. Those fodder privates were just a distraction, before I felt the tap of his oar against my boat. I was truly surrounded now, with nothing to see but bows and ships in every direction. All seemed lost, before…

Honip! My old crew!! They came for me!

These blimey corpses didn’t stand a chance against the lot of us. All 5 together, 1 for each section of the legion, before finally cornering that blasted ferryman. Send ‘im to the river Styx!

Some strange dagger was dropped from Haros’ coat; seemed like something I could use. And, as soon as I picked it up, the fog, as if tied to his very presence, seemed to simply disperse, like flies. It wasn’t until a few moments later that the fog, without any warning, materialized into some strange “water mask”! I figured I’d take advantage of the sea’s generosity…

Those in Nemract seemed none the wiser of it all, though. It was as if nothing had even happened. So, to join in the ignorance, Honip and I took a short trip to the bar, chatting and laughing along the way.

They seemed to have a rodent issue aboard their vessel, which compelled them to seek help over in Nemract, before ultimately running into the rotten lot! Truly, we were tied by fate to meet again, and in such compelling circumstances.
We kept our conversation running, drunk off whisky and victory, before some panting, desperate soldier seemed to gun through the center of the bar, belting out “all soldiers report to General Amerigo for an emergency!” To all in earshot.

Never heard of the chap; sounds like ‘e’s some sorta official… I hoped to never meet ‘im, until Honip had some wise idea to tell the fella I was a “soldier”, and that I could “help”. (Blast the idiot, there’s a reason we’re not workin t’gether so much no more.)

Needless to say, it seems I’m conscripted to the army for a bit, but, first chance I get, it’s back to plundering!

    Current Gear Loadout:
    Water Mask (Lvl: 28)
    Seafarers Coat (Lvl: 26)
    Sea Legs (Lvl: 28)
    Portable Buoys (Lvl: 25)
    Lake 2x (Lvl: 23)
    Shark tooth (Lvl: 3)
    Styx’s Grasp (Lvl: 26)
Aye, I swear, what do they have ‘ese soldiers doin? Let’s get this over wit so I can be back wit me boat on the open waters…
