Community Event The Ambient Mob Tier List (ft. Crab)

I think ambient mobs (and custom models in general) while being technically pointless are also simultaneously some of the best things that have ever been added to Wynncraft and I am not only thoroughly glad that they're here, but also I can't imagine what it would be like if they weren't. The addition of ambient creatures, especially ones that are unique to certain areas, breathes life into any game and makes the world feel like it could realistically exist with areas having their own believable ecosystem, so here's hoping that even more get added because I love them.

Personally I would in general love to see more area-specific creatures as well as for fireflies and bees to spawn in more areas and more often. I noticed that the only place in Nivla that fireflies spawn is specifically in Alekin and I just don't like that. I think that they should spawn across the entire biome, and this should of course also apply to other places they spawn. I like snails too, they're funny lil guys but the only place I remember seeing them is around Mt. Wynn.
And yes I know crabs aren't ambient mobs but they're so awesome I put them in the tier list anyways because they are my friends and I know they would do the same for me.

my favorite ambient mob is the lighthouse

 

The lighthouse on the Maltic coast actually turns on at night and the light actually counts as an ambient mob and you can even kill it

 

I know. I wouldn't consider it a mob though. It's just an object that has a "health" bar that you can destroy.

 

In the official wiki it's classified as an ambient mob so it's here on the list

loving the dragonflies

also love how you can step on the insects

snails and crabs r cool

every time i see the fairyflies and fumeflies i remember deus's headcannon for them and they get that much cooler

 

This is probably a silly take but I think that heavy forest areas like Nivla and Dark Forest should have a more dense canopy so at night fireflies look cooler

 

Flies spawn in a LOT of places. They're super small specifically because they're so common, so I didn't want them to be intrusive

Also strange that Monarch and Royal butterflies aren't in "breathes life into the game's areas", given they only spawn at the Fruma Gate and Wynn Outskirts

That's fair

Monarch and royal butterflies are in "immersive"; the two in "breathes life" are the iridescent and shadow butterflies.
"Breathes life" is for ambient mobs that are either completely fictional to Wynncraft, and/or if they're exclusive to a specific place on the map and don't share their body shape with anything else. There are some exceptions but that's more based on my bias I suppose.

Everything other than "breathes life" is more based on how cool I think they are.

You do realize Royal butterflies are fictional, look like the Fruma flag, and actively radiate light and glow

like, they're not just fictional and exclusive to two small areas, but also have some significance given their connection to the Fruma flag and actively glow in the dark
