Strange cave in the border with a hopper in it. What secrets lie here?

I was exploring around the map a few weeks ago and discovered this strange cave in the world border at (-2226, -3618). The beach out front lured me in with three welcoming palm trees. Little did I know that they disguised a far more disturbing location.



The inside of the cave was nothing special, some waterfalls here and there, and some crates and loose bricks left behind by those who were here before me. But then I noticed something odd.


The back of the cave had a mysterious hopper, and in front of it was what I could only describe as the scene of a crime.


A wall of dark gray rocks that aren't seen anywhere else in the cave, meaning that there had to be a tunnel here before it was blocked off by a cave-in. But now we can only wonder: Who caused this cave-in? And were they outside of the cave when it happened? Perhaps we may never know.

But for real, does anyone actually know what this is? I know the world border holds a lot of random secret stuff that just exists to exist, like the Teki Princess and the Retired Buccaneer, but this one stands out as something that could be more important. Could this be a secret discovery that has no quest or content book record? Or could it exist to set up for something in the future. Maybe it's a secret entrance to Fruma that we won't be able to go through until the Fruma update.

I know most of these secrets are usually just cool little finds, but the hopper sitting right before a huge caved-in tunnel, as well as the torches and crates set up before it lead me to believe that this cave is something more. What if there's some secret item somewhere else along the world border like the Laboratory Key that could be dropped in the hopper to clear the rocks? Or maybe there really is nothing here.

Maybe dropping in a mythic will do something. I'll go try it out right now!

iirc theres a tnt item that you can throw into the hopper to blow up the wall and enter a little cave with some chests. i think the tnt is supposed to drop from mobs in the cave but said mobs have been removed for some reason.

 

The mobs got removed with 2.1 beta and for a brief time there was an unreasonable amount of random gargoyles that spawned in this cave instead

 

I dropped my unid warp in and got this!!! wow!!!

Damn that sucks. Oh well, hopefully they do something with the cave in a future update. Maybe that secret tunnel to Fruma I proposed...
