    Progress Update!

    Hi Hi,

    This week, I have ALL of the Depressing Weapons complete, and 3 of the Annihilation Fableds that no one asked for but I bought Blunt Force and I love it so I made a model for it, and figured while I was at it I'd also remodel the other Annie Fableds too.

    Depressing Weapons
    (In order) Bow, Shears, Spear, Stick

    That bow's one of the best I've ever made imo.
    All of the depressing weapons feature a Bob's tear animation, which I like.
    And yes, those are actual shears (I know they wouldn't work IRL because you'd have to be compressing the wood, but it looked off when it was just metal there)

    Blunt Force

    It big, and very deadly. Blunt Force Trauma goes hard, literally. The crowned skeleton would agree.
    I used the greyish-purple palette found on most of my Annie mythics to great effect here. It feels like the blood has actually sunk into the crooks of the stone.


    Syncope

    Using a devil's head as a guard for your sword goes kinda hard imo.
    I like the way the flame/wax came together, and how it melds with the head.
    The blade face is parallel to the guard because I haven't used a design like that before and it gives the weapon a bit more of its own identity.


    Malevolent Urge

    Omg is that finger a JJK reference?
    No. Yes.
    I figured it fit with the whole 'urge' and 'malevolent' feel, so I started from there and just let it flow.
    In the end, I think it turned out quite well. Something's off about the colour of the grey-purple frame in the middle, but I think it's fine (LMK if you have any suggestions)

    Is that Monster ever gonna get done? And I promised a Weathered last time as well. Tune in next time to find out whether I can actually keep promises!

    RYTHEW! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR 4 MONTHS!!?? YOU GOTTA HAVE A WHOLE ARSENAL OF MODELS WAITING FOR US!!

    Err.. No. But! Before you tie me to the stake and banish me to someplace far beyond, I will say that I have slowly been shaking off the burnout and have found just about enough motivation to see this project through to the end, at least till all of F&L 2's Mythics are done. Hopefully Fruma brings weapons with actual design and lore potential because my god does Gavel update weapon lore lack substance (at least for propagating ideas for models).

    So! News. I've updated F&L 1 (the deprecated project with much lower standards) to v1.10 - Aria Flights: The End. As the name implies, I have pretty much 0 intention to update that project any further. And by 'I updated the pack', I mean DrBiznes updated the pack to Variants CIT (https://modrinth.com/mod/variants-cit) all by themself (tell them 'thank you' if you ever see them in-game). Variants CIT is the mod that allows the same functionality as CIT Resewn did, but its the one all the cool kids are using, plus CITR's updates are either really delayed or the developer has lost interest.

    And for F&L 2 news, DrBiznes also updated that for VCIT as well (so a double thank you!), so you should have it prepared for the next update. I don't have a release window for the next update, firstly because I haven't made significant progress beyond the ones I've already showcased, and secondly because exams are close and I kinda gotta focus on them as a priority. If things go well, however, I should have at least 1 or 2 fresh models to showcase by this time next week.

    Looking forwards to getting this project back on its feet.

    Quadrimesterly Progress Update!

    Hi Hi!

    We're back! Today I have 2 models to show off: Collapse & a reworked Absolution!

    I was gonna have a more complex animation, but since the model itself was already quite detailed, I decided not to.
    Almost all of the colours used for this model were sampled from images of the Milky Way (but I did add some necessary hue-shifting)
    I like how it turned out, but I think I use trims (one-pixel-wide platforms of a different colour to what surrounds it, used to add detail)
    too much so I'll try to cut back on them going forwards.
    I finally got to reuse that Inverted Spear of Heaven model, but I had to scale it down a bit. I know the lore only references one spearhead, but two blades means double as cool.

    Absolution

    Such an improvement!

    2.0 btw. It's a good model but does not fit the item. Let me know if you have any suggestions for what non-Mythic item this should become the model for.

    I wanted to actually put some story behind this one, since the lore is quite cool.
    Basically the red swirling animation is an embodiment of the atrocities caused by Ensa, and the pale blue is you trying to 'absolve' it of its atrocities, and then the red coming back once more to show the significance and everpresent nature of his atrocities.
    There's a lot more waiting in the in-game animation, but Blockbench doesn't take into account the lengths of frames, so they are not respected in the gif.
    In terms of the actual lantern, I had trouble deciding what tool the 'healing implement' should be, but decided that a lantern was the best fit. I think ProbsWinter's choice for the healing implement (https://modrinth.com/resourcepack/mythos_/gallery) was a much better one.

    Sorry for no Watchman's Vendetta yet I tried but it went spectacularly poorly so I'll try again after I've recovered from it. If you have any other suggestions as for which weapons I should do next, please let me know here or Discord (rythew).

    The shackles of that beast start to jangle. Its form can now be made out from the surrounding dark, but the texture of its skin can't yet be observed, and the noticeable lack of fire shows that the beast has not finished forming.
    It's Monster.

    I have decided not to promise anything next time. There will be models next time, but to be honest I'm fed up with Monster. I have tried many more times than I can count to make this model work, and I'm approaching my limit. I have created one part of my concept for Monster that I am super proud of, but have literally no idea what curse has beset this component that has prevented me from making any progress on it. I dunno, maybe I've already given you a teaser.

    Weekly Progress Update!

    Γεια γεια (Latinised: Ya ya!, English: Hi Hi)!

    I have a feeling I'll be busy next week so here's two models to keep you guys hyped for the pack. I present: Olympic and Gaia (it's a Greek theme).

    Oh yeah! Ferocious backlight!
    After my hiatus, I decided to make my lighting more realistic, having it come from one point instead of kinda all over the place, and I really prefer this! I think it makes it a lot shinier.
    In terms of what it represents, it's a giant silver trophy - go figure. There's a pause after the flame extinguishes (but Blockbench said no), to show how the games occur for a short period every four years (a long time). Sheafs of wheat at the foot of the trophy because that's symbolic of victory.

    There's a pause after the flower changes colour.
    This one took a few attempts because I found it hard to keep the wand thick enough so that it looked like a trunk but thin enough so that it didn't turn into a relik or mace.
    Looking back on it, I think the handle grip should be inset instead of extruded so that it looks like the handle is actually carved into the wood (it's a mangrove-like wood, so jungly on the outside and red on the inside).
    Mushroom people get mad cus these mushrooms probably don't exist irl, I kinda just pulled them out of my head.
    I kept the concept of a figurine from my rendition in F&L 1, but made it look a lot more revered, as you can see from how it illuminates everything else, and is emissive in-game.

    Weekly Progress Update!

    Hi Hi!

    Two more models today! Hero & Spring.

    "Enigmatically, this weapon will only show itself to those who believe themselves to be worth nothing, or to be weak. While utilizing this weapon will greatly strengthen one's resolve, it will disappear when it is no longer needed, going to the next wielder."
    I've attached the actual animation separately because Blockbench really doesn't do it justice, with the pauses and all.
    The idea behind the animation was that every time the spear was passed from person-to-person, they would add their own charm to it, as seen by the animation where one of the feathers at the bottom changes colour on each cycle. The current person uses the spear, wears it down (the blood), and in the eleventh hour, the spear rejuvenates (expels the blood and becomes gilded), and after a while (i.e: when it it no longer needed), the golden empowerment fades away.
    I think I'll lower the complexity of most animations I do from now on, this one took me the best part of four hours.
    Other than that it's a pretty tame design.

    The palette was inspired by the Yellowstone Caldera. I know Spring's supposed to be cold, but I think it really fit.
    I tried making the palette a bit different from usual. I usually start off with a set of materials, or basic colours, that I want to incorporate into the design, and then I make the light and dark tone variants for each material. Below is a demonstration and more waffle about palettes for those of you who are interested.

    In the Olympic palette (an example of what I usually do), you can see how I've split up every material into its own separate palette.

    With Spring, I linked every material and colour together, which allows for the whole model to flow together better and it just makes it feel a lot more organic.

    The snowflake animation has a pause when it fully extends and contracts, but Blockbench will forever be the bane of my showcase GIFs.

    Sorry for the wait! Been busy with exams and some other errands. But I do have 3 models for you all as compensation, which I bashed out in the last few days. I present: Watchman's Vendetta, Monster, and Lament!

    Watchman's Vendetta

    None. Which is weird because all the other Annihilation Fableds (excl. Blunt Force) have lore. CT, get on that (after Fruma lol)!
    Gun. Originally I made a gun-crossbow hybrid but that just looked too over the top.
    How did a gun come from an order-less dimension of cinder, hellfire and war? Gun (I don't like making bows - they always end up getting longer than 48 pixels (the model size limit)).

    Monster

    "This wand merges with the user on touch, bringing about horrific changes to them. Elongated nails, sharp teeth and the ability to breathe fire are trademarks of the beast."
    Super proud of this, even if I have been saying I'll do it for a while now.
    It was really hard to integrate the bull head into the wand - I made it first because I had a sudden rush of inspiration and couldn't bare to throw it away.
    I really like the palette I made for this model, I think it captures that hellish vibe quiet well, and the black is very sinister.

    "When the lost city of Sarnfic sunk beneath the depths, nothing but the bubbles of screams and this single wand surfaced. When used, you can still hear the town's lament."
    This one also went through many iterations. I always wanted to have a hand reaching for the surface, but every time I tried to make a wand to accommodate it it never really flowed well.
    I gave it a break for a few months and decided today that I could put it in a chalice. Which makes sense because (if I understand the lore correctly), Sarnfic was doing some pretty shady magic so, by that logic, they likely would have some ornate chalices and such for rituals and the like. And its symbolic that what caused their downfall is what their souls are trying to escape/be delivered from.
    Oh right, the model. Uh, yeah I like the colours. The splashes on the water are something I added when I was writing the start of this post, and as I was looking at the GIF, I thought that the hand looked a bit inanimate. I don't think the GIF does them justice, but they're definitely a lot more noticeable in-game.

    The next update (like actual update, not these progress updates) will likely be mid/late June, if all goes well. The reason I haven't released an update yet is because I've got a few failed models and I'm too stubborn to just remove them - I want to fix, finish or redo them.
