I suppose that's reasonable, but it is still a tad bit disappointing.

 

I think there's plenty of good reasons why changelogs should still be posted on the forums, though. Even though the forums might not be popular for people to chat in anymore (*shakes fist at kids these days*) it's still a much easier way for the more casual players (like me, this is my first message on either the forums or the discord) to see updates, as it doesn't require an account to view and can be accessed easily from a google search result. That account might be hard to get for some users as they may be under discord's age limit of 13, in a country which has banned discord, or just not want one.

I think it's absolutely worth it to take the relatively small effort to change the markdown to BBCode just based on that, but there's even more reasons if you look at the advantages of forum posts. Forum posts can also be formatted much more nicely, they are indexed on google search results which can be used to search for keywords instead of the unfortunately shitty discord search and they can be archived by the archive.org web crawler in case the website ever goes down. Discord (and especially the discord app) take a lot more web traffic than a simple forum website too, so having a forum website allows them to more easily view a changelog on a browser tab open in the background while still playing the game. The same goes to all the helpful user created guides and documentation that people post - chances are that if it's in the forum then thousands of people are looking at it for years, while if it's in a discord channel it'll get lost within an hour and will only be used by people who remember it.

I personally do have a discord account which I use for other things but I'm not particularly interested in having conversations on the wynncraft discord and I find the forum to be a much better alternative for reading changelogs and guides - which I'm glad wynncraft has as a lot of newer places never bothered to create one.

You may be also interested in reading the "Why discord" thread in the General Suggestions category, where several other users have already chipped in their dislike for their change. I would post a link to the thread myself, but that option seems to be restricted for accounts with less than 10 posts.

I will second the prior statements and voice my strong support for forums changelogs. I think the importance of indexability and accessibility for something like this is substantial. Even if it's just plain Markdown, I think it's worth having. (although, depending on how wide y'alls usage of Markdown is, it could probably be regex'd into decent shape)

I will also voice my support of forums changelogs, finding past change logs on the forums is way easier than on discord. The format of the forums is also better organized. Also I’m afraid to see this become a trend of discord getting more priority than the forums, which yeah I understand that the discord has WAAAAY more people but the forums has been around longer and I’d hate to see it become disused
