Discovery states that the portal was open during the events of them seeing the incoming fireballs in the ruined olmic city
That event happens before 0 AP.
Therefore, the portal was open at some point before 0 AP.

When the miners discover the expanse in 800 BP, they find it abandoned of Olm (also proof towards the fact the expanse was affected by Darkness well, well, well before 0 AP). This means that potentially a thousand or more years ago, the portal was open

I was always so confused about this, I think I finally understand.
It seems like its this tidal motion of high and low tide (bad analogy sorry) where there are periods of high activity from the realms (portal being open) and low activity (portal closed), and they seem to cycle through these (possibly). This makes sense to why there is influence of light and dark in both gavel and SE long before 0 A.P.

Or it could not be a natural cycle at all as we see that the opening of the portals at 0 A.P wasn't really natural at all, so possibly the realm portals just open whenever.

I also bring up this line from that DB says in Ne du Valeos du Ellach

???: This fight... This war... It has torn us apart from what we were.

Which suggests that the beasts or realms themselves may have been an entirely different system from what we currently know.

That's a reaaach but that's interesting. There's the lore of the low-level pants "Bridge of the Divide" which shows that light and dark can coexist instead of just turning to corruption. Idk if this is outdated information but yes

Something id like to bring up is the death messages in EO. Unlike elsewhere, when you die in EO to an enemy, you often get a line of dialogue, spoken to you by that enemy.
In the miniboss room with the Reversion Catalysts, there's a few lines of dialogue they say that stand out as particularly interesting.

"WHAT YOU SEE AROUND YOU IS THE RESULT. THE LIGHT CANNOT BE SUFFERED TO SHINE."
"IF IT WILL NOT STOP, DESOLATION COMES. THE LIGHT CANNOT REMAIN AS IT IS."

"BEWITCHED INTERLOPER, SUFFUSED WITH FALSE PROMISE"
"MISLEAD AND DAZZLED BY LIGHT, YOU MUST PEER INTO THE DARK"
"THE LIGHT CONNIVES YOU INTO FACING STRUGGLES BEYOND YOUR KEN"

"THE SOFTNESS OF THE DARK NURTURES US, AS IT MAY YOU"

Obviously they're creatures of Darkness so they're almost definitely pro Darkness, but I find it interesting that they don't loathe you or seem to hold contempt for you breaking into the expanse and subsequently the Eldritch Outlook, seeing you as a victim of the Light. Instead of saying something like "AND NOW YOU WILL BE SWALLOWED WHOLE INTO THE DARKNESS", they state remorse for you being "misguided" and "blinded", and urge you to not fight.

 

Id also like to add that just because one side does something destructive or causes harm to people does not suddenly make it a moral thing. As I said before, they're both amoral. A fire can turn buildings and forests to ash, it can kill people in its flames, but it's still amoral. The only moral dilemma really is if the player should seek to follow them, not the actions of the beasts themselves.

Question is, what was happening in those thousands years. Remember, there is still the Realm of War Nether, so Orphion just probably didn't focus on it. For the second point, who knows, really. Ignoring the question of Corruption (which is imo debatable), what will be the world like under direct and focused influence of Light? Is it going to be like the Light Forest, or RoL? In the latter case, I am really not sure it is going to be liveable.

This stone guy is literally a barrier for the parasites, and might as well be for Light btw.

Not that's interesting. It still gives me this "cult" vibe though, especially the middle ones. I mean, it definitely isn't I WILL KILL YOU YOU LITTLE PIECE OF [dead], but it isn't exactly assuring either.

 

My "wynn is actually supposed to be the gavel-equivalent of dern" theory is fueled. It's most definitely not true, but dang would it be so cool.

But yeah, I'm gonna say that a lot of y'all just don't like moral ambiguity, and are too used to the idea of "light good, dark bad". It's been demonstrated time and time again that the amorality of both light and dark works, and is already a thing in wynncraft. Y'all just don't wanna believe it. y'all are blinded by the LIGHT

Heck, here's an in-universe character realizing that you shouldn't choose one side, but rather balance both sides.


DB can be considered "the bad guy" in a sense that he is disturbing the balance, not due to his nature as the beast of darkness.

 

Oh also I decided DB was female for a good reason!

1: Orphion is referred to as Male
2: Obv they could both be Male but the headcanon works better with a mother and a father (bc of the way in which the genders play a role in the headcanon)
3:we dont know DB gender so why not female

 

It’s kinda annoying that no one has still refuted that the Light is objectively less destructive than the Darkness on the overworld and Orphion never actually tells us to do anything amoral for him that had real consequences, yet you now insist that we just don’t like moral ambiguity or are more comfortable with simple “Good vs. Evil.” I literally mentioned in my original post how they could make the Light more morally ambiguous. It clearly isn’t demonstrated in game that the Light and Darkness are equally or even similar morally given the poll and Deusphage relying on information that isn’t even in-game.
