Could someone explain to me how life steal works?

I know life steal works on basic attacks and skills and poison. But how does it steal life?
with 100/3s is it something like recovering 300 health in a time of 3s if you hit 3 mobs?

 

Browsing thru Google seems easier to do. Doesn't take even 5 minutes to find..

and there was a massive change to it in Spellbound (2022)

i don't really know the answer to this question, unfortunately (as i have not used lifesteal much)

 

I just did some tests with lifesteal. from what I saw, having 200/3 lifesteal gives 81 life per basic attack. I also tested playing skills and poison but nothing ;-;.

As far as I'm aware, life steal scales the per-hit health with your attack speed so that the amount of health you get per hit is equal to the listed amount divided by your attack speed. This means that you should get the listed amount in three seconds by continuously hitting. If I'm correct than that would suggest you were using a weapon with very slow attack speed (0.83 attack speed multiplier, meaning that it hits 0.83 times per second).
Math (I'm on mobile so I'm not gonna format it)
(200 health/second)/(3 seconds)= ~(67 health/second).
(67 health/second)/(81 health/hit)=~(0.83 hit/second)
Life steal does not work on spells anymore but I believe still works on powder specials, however I may be mistaken.
