Shouts vs Streamer Mode

It's no secret that during server events the chat becomes less than ideal, on most servers these kind of issues can be dealt with a player turning off chat or using streamer mode
This is not possible on Wynncraft

I am literally unable to stream on Wynncraft anymore due to the shouts that are impossible to turn off without installing a secondary mod. Even when I am just recording for a youtube video, the amount of editing that has to go into blurring or cutting around the shouts in chat while still being able to follow quest lines and npc dialogue is frustrating

Most of the time I just deal with it and report the person after the fact or use the ignore feature, but it doesn't change the fact that streamer mode is meant to be a way for content creators to safely play on a public smp without having to risk their videos being taken down for something said in the chat by a troll

These are just some of the more annoying ones I grabbed in the 30 minutes I was online today


Just make streamer mode actually usable for streamers, or call it something else please

We need /toggle shouts

 

I just use f1, and I memorize my hotbar. Makes the game so much more beautiful.

Personally, I use Wynntils for the chat system, it allows you to filter it so you don't see shouts and such, and if you wanted to try it but keep the newer look of Wynncraft you could spend a few minutes turning everything off (There right be a preset system there for "Vanilla")

The fact that toggle shouts has not been implemented yet is insane to me, especially with how unhinged recent shouts have been during Annie parties. I know wynntils has this feature, but I should NOT be forced to download a mod for it when this feature can likely be implemented without too much hassle in base-game Minecraft. Devs please get on it soon

about a 9 months ago i made a post about why shouts should be toggleable and that was before they started being this consistently insane
i wish the devs would have implemented it, but i see the point about income
i actually have an idea now which is to just filter out specific words, so if you see something you don't like you can filter out the shout while keeping the rest of the shouts (and most of the devs' income)
this way, the devs don't have to block words which are technically innocent but can be used in similar connotations
streamer mode should definitely filter shouts more thoroughly tho

 

Throwback to when they added a censor and “assassin” got censored into “******in” whenever anyone typed it

I doubt toggleable shouts would actually impact their income, but even if it does, that really should be added. I appreciate some of the somewhat unhinged shouts, but a lot of them are just obscene or really messed up. While plenty of these things might get them muted or even banned, that only happens after the fact, and there's plenty of stuff that could definitely be considered unsuitable for some audiences that really shouldn't be banned. The first message cited in the thread for instance might not be something you want your child reading, but is perfectly appropriate for an older audience. Having some kind of NSFW toggle might also work, where you would have to flag your shout as being NSFW somehow and players with it disabled wouldn't see your shout, but that seems difficult to implement and would still doubtless have plenty of spillover. Also the censor makes (or made at least) things a million times funnier.
