For those of you whose browsers gave them the Meteor finger and didn't load the image:
WE ARE BACK! for a bit

Me and Idealia's aspiring spell-scriber, Sugjester, have made our return to Wynncraft and the Wynncraft Forums. Since my hiatus, I've learned many things as I travelled from game to game, made new friends both on and offline, and started development on my own video game.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned? Starting small.

So instead of writing out a giant essay like the suggestion posts of old, feel free to basically ask me anything appropriate down in the comments, and I'll do my best to respond! Don't be shy about leaving any inquiries, remarks, greetings, etc. you may have about me or where exactly I've been.

*I'll likely only be semi-active for the rest of this summer. Sorry, but making games and IRL stuff take priority!

**And this time I'll be using Wynntils, since my new laptop can take it. What a godsend!

Welcome back, young... assassin? Mage? Shaman? Whatever you are, soldier, welcome back to our ranks!

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Galaxias. I was previously stationed in the Silent Expanse, but was relieved to come here.

Please, tell me a little bit more about yourself. We don't have many recruits coming through today, so you've got plenty of time.

Well, if you even need any help, I'll be here with my wybels, watching over the new recruits.

Welcome back to service, old friend! Long time no see, huh? And you even started making your own game, wow... while I still creeping around the game, heh. But let's not stand here, let's go to some inn! I want to hear all about your retirement and the game you are creating! I have a story or two in exchange if you want.

"young soldier"? My friend, they were here long before you, though it might not look like it. They were (in)famous constantly suggesting improvements to the army. It wasn't always... perfect, but they got the spirit!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I was known best as a Shaman, and despite it's new form, I still find it to be both the most interesting and all-around powerful Class. My puppets mean well, despite somehow being capable of worse tunnel visioning than me, and I appreciate how Ritualist's masks don't demand that I wear them to benefit from their powers. Acolyte unsettles me, but that's no different than before or after I learned of what happened to Headspace's last owner.

The short figure you see in the above photo is Sugjester, a spellscriber from Idealia that's recently earned himself a promotion to Inquisitor of Invention in my realm. Blockids are simply short in my realm, akin to Dwarves. He was a cross between a standard Mage and a Pilot, but was deemed "far too untamed and volatile" to be officially enlisted. His maturity has thankfully improved since!

A friend on Discord told me about the Rekindled Update, so I decided it wouldn't hurt to return given I'm on summer break. If I hadn't found greater goals in my life than fighting for Wynn all day, I'd happily leave retirement and bring my unique aid to the battlefield. But at least until I repay the maiden who slapped me back into sensefulness, I will be abstaining from that decision. There's a lot of work to do, to say nothing of my incoming college work!

I look back at my time on these forums fondly - nowadays, it's upsettingly rare to discover such a nice community that's open to discussion like Wynncraft's...And I look back at my Spell ideas with healthy skepticism as well. But you'll be happy to know that my ability to control and polish the quality of my concepts has VASTLY improved! The scope of them, not so much, but I aim to improve there, too!

Fair enough. But I hope you will at least join us on a couple missions?

Glad to see you view it like that :D

Oh yes, go bigger and bigger!

Also, do tell us about your game! Platformer? Combat? LORE? Also, what tools do you use?

But of course! My level isn't high enough to join anything significant, but I hope to make a splash by being myself and posting about it. What is myself? A complete crackshot tactician. You won't see any other soldier pulling off the shtick I do!

I'm still curious about something - since I was never active on the official Discord, I'm STILL unsure just how much of a sway I had on the older forums community. Can you tell me - honestly, even if it's sorta hurtful, please - how big my original splashes on the forums were? I don't need the validation for actions and from people I only interacted with years ago...But I would like it!

I don't plan to go TOO big, since it's only my first publicly released indie game! Scope creep has killed a lot of my silently-schemed and never-programmed pet projects...

Wow, you got a lot of lucky guesses there! I'll go one by one:
    • Platformer? - YES! A 2D platformer that aims to take after Donkey Kong's speed and Kirby's Copy Ability system, in addition to being available on mobile! (On that note, I'm beside myself with the ingeniousness of the control scheme - I can't wait to get a playable demo out this summer so you can try it instead of just reading my boastful words of it!)
    • Combat? - But of course! The main character (and sole playable character as of writing), Kore, can adapt Musages from the environment by sitting down at certain spots and taking it all in. She can also sit on top of defeated enemies to do this, granting her an amplified facsimile of their powers.
    • Lore? - ...Oh, you have no idea. And I've got a lot of careful writing to do on that front - being deity of your own technically-autobiographical world sadly doesn't come with an IRL author to help you type out all the exact details.

Also, despite how it went last time I played, I'm confident that wasting time on making my own Professions-Crafted items will only further my cause, now that I know how to build Classes properly. You'll see!

The new Cave Explorations and my ability to install Wynntils have greatly sped up the process of leveling up and generally finding content to enjoy. I appreciate that they're also going back and helping our early game be more fun in general!

Oh right, I forgot to say that!

I'm using Godot 4 to make both the PC version and mobile version of my indie game, Maiden Voyage. Both will have identical content, aside from PC having some bells and whistles. Art and animations are planned to be entirely hand-drawn, but some computer use will be involved to help accelerate the process. (Otherwise it'd take far too long for my liking or affordability!)

...And believe it or not, I'm also using the desktop version of Scratch 3.0 for some placeholder art and animations. What can I say? Even though I know there's other more complex art tools, it's just more intuitive for me at this point.

Pulling off the weirdest shticks is the perfect thing one can do. Let's see if you can get off with more than us back in the day. I bet not, there is way less corrupteds now for that... hehehehehe...

Frankly, I have no idea! I was never active on the discord either. And neither I watch the updates too much anymore, to be honest. But in my opinion probably a tiny bit at least.

Don't limit yourself by saying "it would be the too big..."! If there is more, do more!

I need the loor. I need the loor. Before I go crazy with all the papers about Corruption around me. I think it might be too late, actually, I found myself reading Bob's story. Bob's story, Acadee, that's how bad it got. Yeah.

Godot, I see. How is it going for you?

Also hand-drawn, great! Lots of work, but worth it. Good luck with your project, I hope I will get to see it one day :D
