Im guessing those two SE quests would have just been AJB and AJF right? but obviously AJF was probably rewritten. Unless they were two other quests that yall arent allowed to reveal.

yea they were basically AJB and AJF, but they really hadn't been written much at all. We had planned for awhile to push SE for after Eco update before it was made public.

After Eco we had a large planning meeting to redefine the plans for SE. I bought up 3 main points there, 1: A dungeon with the eye from the Wynncraft logo at the end. 2: A town in the middle to act as a rest stop. 3: Biomes to help break up the area into workable sections to add content to and also to make the place feel more diverse. I suggested an eyeball forest biome because it fits thematically with the eye being the dungeon boss.

Funny enough The Eye from the logo was never planned to be a dungeon boss or any kind of boss, I just thought we needed some kinda cool end game boss and taking the eye from the logo and giving it meaning was a cool way to make the boss, despite it never being mentioned before, feel like a thematically "final" boss for the time being. I also originally wanted to retextured an elder guardian mob to make it a model but sadly that didn't work out and we have the block built eye instead.

 

That kinda surprises me since there actually are a few places in the game that mention something about "an eye". For example, the WynnExcavation members mention an eye during their meeting in Site C. There is also an eye built into one of the walls in Troms' castle.

Maybe those are more of a symbolic thing rather than to be taken literally as an actual eyeball...?

 

Ah, I'm honestly glad yall didn't texture the elder guardian, it would have meant no TCC since that raid also had a block built boss. And I'm sorry to ask another question but were raids planned during the 1.14 gavel update? Or were they planned to be dungeons, I saw a worm boss in the first gavel trailer and it looks like an early grootslang boss fight.

 

"raids" have been planned as a general concept for a long time. Gavel trailer did have an early groot raid boss in it. But none of those plans really got off the ground much. And when we actually added raids we kinda reset back to square one with how to do them.

I can say as I built troms castle that there is not meant to be like "The eye" built into it. Unless maybe it was added later after the eye was added? Idk what the meaning of site C is though. I remember asking Grian if there was any meaning to the eye in the logo just to make sure I wasn't fucking up some existing lore by making it a boss and he told me no.

I like this kind of design work. Taking something that sorta has a meaning or seems like it should and giving it one. The same thing happened with Nameless. Void holes were just a biome idea we had, there was no plan that some guy was making the void holes. But when we were coming up with nameless the idea that he created the void holes came up as a gameplay concept. It also happens to help make him fit in as it gives him a reason to exist based on content already in the game, and provides an explanation for unexplained phenomenon.

 

ah i guess yall hadn't made any plans for dern or it's eye yet, but there was music made for dern before the SE tho. Unless the unknown playlist isnt dern music and is instead early SE music.

 

Imma be real, idk what the unknown playlist is, but it is not dern music.

 

Ah well then I guess the wiki was wrong, though I guess the only one who would actually know what the unknown playlist was made for is prolly Xavier. Really weird for an official wiki to have the wrong info tho.

 

I mean the wiki writers don't know everything about back end CT stuff and work on public or old info, they also might have been told things that are not totally true or are outdated info now. If those songs were intended for dern in some way they were just experimental stuff that got scrapped.

 

Ah, I guess that answers that question. I'm sorry to ask this but are you allowed to say anything about the cancelled Karoc Quarry raid, theres images of it in the thread along with images of a cancelled Dullahan raid, unless those were gonna be dungeons and not raids. Ok so the images are gone for some reason, idk why. Man I wish images wouldn't just be gone like that, why dont they stay?

Oh so that's why it is referred to as the Ternaves Prison.

 

The pics of raids are from the same period as grootslang raid in the gavel trailor. old pre gavel content that really had nothing to do with current raid system. Dullahan raid was going to happen again thoe, but got scraped in favor of TNA. Some of the room ideas we had got reworked into TNA rooms. We just thought having a level 75 raid was dumb cuz it would be played once or twice so it would be better to make an end game raid in SI.

 

So im guessing that means Dullahan's story may or may not be concluded in the future, a dungeon would make sense since besides the forgery which nobody does. Plus fallen factory is level 90 and theres multiple corrupted dungeons in that level range anyways. So I guess the only way to really conclude his story would be with a dungeon, probably unlikely to happen though, cause I know yall are working on fruma right now so for now anything to do with dullahan is out of the picture.
