Let's Get Nostalgic

Wynncraft is old. Like, almost 10 years old at this point. Which, um, holy shit. And it sure has changed a lot in the last 10 years. So, why don't we get Nostalgic about stuff. What do you remember fondly from back in the day? What do you remember disdainfully from back in the day? Third question.

 

Eye of the Storm did indeed exist and continues to exist as a mob

 

• Swarms, and the swarm parties that resulted from them.
• 300/225 being the level cap across all classes.
• 1.12 releasing and drastically improving the quality of every build. It was really fun discovering everything it offered for the first time.
• At one point, WynnExcavation Site D used to be the unanimous pick for the game's best quest.
• The community's multiple different Wynncons, including the one Grian attended and one where Wynn's systems were built from the ground up on another server.
• The factions...

And last but not least: the shoutbox.

When they were first able to use blocks and items as enemies. It was so weird at the time.
Troms runs. I kinda miss those honestly.
Boating across the ocean because infinite mana regen / the Seaskipper weren't around.
On a related note, how utterly broken mana/lifesteal was on archer.
Chargesurfing before it was an intended feature.
Murdering the guard in front of the true old Detlas bank (not the old old Detlas bank, to be clear).

Also, double check your dates. It's not almost a decade old.

i have fond memories of going to higher level areas when i was too low a level.. i remember trying to get to the canyon of the lost at level 50 and getting destroyed by the mobs in cinfras county

i don't fondly remember old teleport spell. one time i got stuck in a building in the desert and accidentally dropped my wand outside it, and i was forced to sit and watch it despawn because i was on low soul points

 

Does anyone remember Ragnar?

 

holy shit this awakened a core memory inside of me. i was doing the house of twain quest as a mage on my first playthrough and dropped my wand into a hole and watched it despawn. this is my 2nd ever wynn screenshot that i can find (im sure theres more but i dont know where they went)

 

Oh man, I remember old teleport. I think I died to that more times than I did to mobs, which is impressive because I died to mobs a lot (cut me some slack, I was a kid).

Also, I have some slight nostalgia for the days where all the weapons just looked like regular Minecraft items. Not that I mind the change, its just that I have fond memories of that time.

 

Ooooh yes, found a Spring there way back in the day, I miss the old Lusuco run as well, and just old lootrunning in general, (not the toxic discord-optimized bs, the pre unid box days, where you had to scroll over each individual item).

 

The Nether arena...

 

Almost 11 years old actually! Wynn's birthday is April 29th 2013! (Shameless self-promotion: I made a little video commemorating the 10 year anniversary last year :) ) I've got a soft spot for the old versions of Detlas, there was a particular railing near the western entrance that I loved to parkour over, and there was a hidden chamber in the big northern bell tower that I loved to go to

 

it's more than 10 years old because i've been playing for 10 years. and i didn't play in any beta
didn't really get far into the game when i first played but i do remember my friends showing me a farming spot south of detlas in some ruins that no longer exist where you could stand on a pillar and zombies would crowd around you.
there was also a pyramid in the desert where the current farm spot is (east of the green gloop quest npc) that you could go inside and farm silverfish who would gather at the bottom of a pit.
i also remember hiding on the roof in detlas as a low level archer while a swarm took place and the high level players killed it. i tried to get involved and died almost instantly.
those are the earliest significant memories i have from back then, i never progressed further than level 30 or smth - i got my first level 50 character in like 2019 and it felt cool to finally be a high level, my first 105 was only a year or so ago lmfao.

Honestly the first time I played it and getting better at it. Also beating first endgame boss that was there untill the expansions. Had to team up with people and it was still difficult.. The people I met here. Just logged back on after years to see if Wynn is still going, can't even remember most of the names of places and characters in the game.

 

We’ve only been playing since 2019 according to our stats page, but one of my core Wynncraft memories is running around in Almuj welding a midnight bell. No idea how we made it all the way to Almuj with that since it’s apparently a lvl 13 weapon.

 

The old secret relic shrines that you would be banned for talking about, old ??? quest that you would be banned for talking about (did they actually threaten to ban people for that stuff or am I just misremembering??)

 

All my old screenshots are just damage checks but holy fuck this image is old.
Old towns, potions not stacking, some textures were unchanged with the pack. It's crazy to look back on old wynn, but it would be a lie to say it was better back then, the quality has improved a lot.


The only thing I really miss is old Bob's tomb and how to open it, it was a pain to get into but it was a place where you always met someone new and I def still have some friends left from that!
