Yea, I used the wiki for secret discoveries. I guess it's because of the type of player I am. Completing them for me is just a step on the path of a fully filled up progress bar. I do understand that that's not normal though ;-)

    I have found eight.
For one secret discovery (watchmen) , i used the wiki just to know where to start, for another (ancient detlas), i used the wiki for the whole thing [ :( ], for another one (crate crane), someone helped me with hints, another one (ragni secret library), i saw on the forums, for the fifth (wolf temple), i found it on my own, but needed wiki to figure out what to do, for the sixth (quicksand), I believe i stumbled into it by myself, for the seventh (far from the roots, which is the introductory one), I found it as most do, when doing the quest nearby, and the one i am most proud of, torn in twain, I got because i decided to explore somewhere with nothing important there, just for fun, and got rewarded! This is the spirit of secret discoveries in my opinion.

I think secret discoveries are one of the best parts of wynncraft. People complain about how "oh quests are boring you just run to the beacon or coordinates" but the cool thing about discoveries are that you have to EXPLORE the WORLD! What good is a huge map with so many forests and houses and mountains when 99% of them are useless outside quests? The reason I explore houses and go off the beaten trail is to have fun exploring, and i get rewarded for that. For instance
When i was in twain lake for the house of twain quest, I saw a small waterfall where the river ends, looked at the map, realised that this ONE TINY WATERFALL feeds the HUGE RIVER THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRETY OF WYNN, which is strange, but i decided to see what was in it, because it was so close to the edge of the map, and then i got the discovery and was so happy that I had explored

My process for SDs is that I use the wiki to get the right general location (Didn't want to eventually stumble into them back then) and then figure it out to the best of my ability. If I really get stuck, I scroll down one millimeter at a time to only get the information for the next step to figure it out from there.

I used the wiki for secrets when i started out, but nowadays (like when the gavel secrets were added) i try my best to find them all on my own, and only check wiki/ask for hints if im super stuck on something

you can actually use the content book as a sort of "metal detector" for secret discoveries now, as it will tell you in a discovery's description if you are nearby. you cannot track them directly though

Can you do triangulation? You go to 3 locations and see how far it is. That should give you like an 100 block radius.

i use the wiki for most stuff because i'm not playing the game for the quests or secret discoveries, i'm playing it for the endgame combat and content. that said, i know most of the secret discoveries before light forest by heart because i've done them on most characters

if you look at the world map, you can see there's another large tributary river that joins at elkurn, which itself comes from pigman valley and feeds the lake next to tempo town, as well as a second tributary river that joins the main one from the lake by the corrupted town and entrance to the silent expanse, and that the point at which all 3 rivers combine is when the one river becomes as large as it does near nivla woods. oh and even further down, a river that starts in almuj joins at the base of mt wynn, after splitting in half with one half leading to pirate bay

no, you can tell the direction because of the water blocks going down a block occasionally. plus a river leads from its source to the sea, with the sources being waterfalls and lakes. on the 3d map you can see a waterfall in pigman ravine feeding that tributary and under the lake by roots of corruption, the cave in the middle leads to an underground spring which is the lake's source, with the lake feeding the main river. plus the river would have to turn backwards at like a 100 degree angle to lead to the lake which rivers don't tend to do naturally except for extreme terrain. there's also waterfalls in almuj and unless they have some magic water, would have to run down somewhere and it clearly is the source of the river cutting through the savannah

Alright, but that one waterfall still feeds twain lake, and the nesaak portion of the river, which we know is of similar size, given that the seaskipper can sail in it. Also address my point about secret discoveries this is not a hydrology thread! :)
