What would you say? SB or Wynn

"I’m honestly not trying to compare the two, but I have a legitimate question. If you had to remove either game (like it never existed, you are the only one that remembers it), which would you pick

Now everyone with their unbiased takes all said remove wynn.

So now what will wynncrafters say with their "unbiased takes"?

 

With our unbiased takes, remove grindblock prison server timewaste simulator. Preserve beautiful full mmorpg better than a lot of actual games on the market today with an amazing story, huge map, great quests, and very little, optional, grinding.

this infuriates me so much.
1:bye skyblock and your 1 billion coins and 3000 hour grind for +1% damage
2:skyblock is the least interesting game ever made
3:Wynncraft is of higher quality and there is no way skyblock will ever surpass without a complete revamp of the entire game. I have never seen skyblock do anything that another prison server doesn't do better. I have seen many things like the way that dungeons plays, which are wynncraft dungeons and raids, because they are the same thing but a lot better.
4:deleting wynncraft because i am too lazy to try it be like
5: skyblock players when they get asked to do the 103839th fetch quest :( /wynncraft players when asked to do a huge lore based emotional story with amazing combat, visuals, story, dialogue, puzzles, and parkour: :)

There's only one answer, it's either Wynncraft stays, or neither of them do. It's like if you asked 'if you had to get rid of Wynncraft or RuneScape', the only real option is to get rid of Wynncraft, because without RuneScape Wynncraft just wouldn't exist.

While I do feel a bit peeved that some aspects of Wynn felt outright ripped without respect or acknowledgement, games being inspired by other games is kind of the norm, and a fair bit of Wynn's influence can be felt in HSB, even moreso when it was in its earlier stages during the beta. You wouldn't have ULTRAKILL without DOOM or Quake. You wouldn't have Undertale (and many other games) without Earthbound. You wouldn't have Celeste without Super Mario Bros. 3. You wouldn't have Wynncraft without RuneScape, and you wouldn't have Hypixel Skyblock without Wynncraft.

Anyway, about the actual question, it's an impossible question for someone like me, who was able to get fulfilling enjoyment out of both games. Skyblock has flaws, but from my experience, boiling it down to a prisons server and moving on isn't a truly fair description of it. "Grindblock" is sort of accurate, but at least most of the time, grinding out the experience to level up skills is engaging. My favorite example of this is the sea creature system for fishing, making Hypixel's fishing system one of my favorites to exist, as if unprepared, fishing can pose a threat to the players life. The devs, while not necessarily the best at communication, like the way, way overhyping of dungeons, or their notorious silence, still made some of the most fun and memorable updates I can remember. It also helps that I'm the kind of person who can deal with a grind easier than some of the people who complain about the time sink required to progress in HPSB, which can't be exemplified any better than my actual enjoyment of slayers and mining mithril, and most recently, Wynn professions (I am insane, help me). I genuinely think that the ~2.5 years I spent actively playing HPSB were some of the most fun I ever had in a video game.

As for Wynncraft, MAN is it a high quality game. While HPSB has had some updates I will always remember fondly, 2.0 has got to be the hypest video game update I've ever seen. In terms of combat, Wynn is much more polished than HPSB, since it has an actual combat system that isn't just one button, and genuine playstyle variety, which I personally value a lot in combat systems. Think Ultrakill for example. Wynn also has an easier gateway to the best money making method, as lootrunning is much more accessible than the high end of Skyblock money making, as you are really only gatekept behind the time to get level 104 and skill. Wynncraft quests are amazing, a completely blind playthrough of Wynn would be amazing for me, but I don't even mind doing 80-90% of the quests a fifth time, which really says something considering RoL 3 exists. Quality wise, Wynn is insane, but I believe that the potential Skyblock holds can still match the quality gameplay Wynn provides me.

Basically, if you ask someone with considerable experience with BOTH Wynn and Skyblock, or at least me, I might be an anomaly, the question is a lot harder to answer and brings actual discussion and thought to the table, compared to the generic dunking on of the other game that seems to be the general consensus of both Wynn and Hypixel players/forum users. This is especially true if that person appreciates their time with both games or was able to surround themself in a positive community (Me). I was lucky enough to never truly get involved with the most toxic parts of the Skyblock Community, and generally, Wynn is inviting and friendly. Bottom line is, from my experience, I can't truly say that I appreciated one of the games more, even if one had a bigger personal impact (guess which one). So delete Monumenta.

 

I say we just get rid of both at this point (and make everyone play Monumenta >:) )

 

Even if it wasn't to save Wynncraft, I would choose to remove SB.

That game has turned so many people I know –people I once considered friends– into straight up maniacs, both in terms of addiction and of toxicity. They're not the same people they used to be.

Not to mention that with SB gone, their admins might finally remember that there are other games on the server than SB, BedWars and Murder Mystery.

 

ehhhhh wynn didnt invent the concept of mmorpg mechanics in minecraft, definitely think hsb could exist without wynn, we dont even know if they definitively were inspired by wynn or not

Skyblock, simply because if it was gone hypixel would develop their other games, while if Wynn was gone it would just be… gone
There are other grindy games out there but mmorpgs with actually fun combat are not common
