Any fungal nerds out here?

Share your random facts about fungi here. I've recently gotten into growing my own edible mushrooms (Lion's Mane if you're curious) so... here's some stuff:

• Gyromitra esculenta, or more commonly known as the False Morel, Brain Mushroom, Turban Mushroom, or Elephant Ears is deadly if you eat it raw, due to the Gyromitrin inside it being metabolized into the very dangerous chemical Monomethylhydrazine. However, cooking it will cause the Gyromitrin to leach out making it potentially safe to eat. Don't ever eat this species, though. The stakes are too high and the reward is too low.

• Hypomyces lactiflorum, also called the Lobster Mushroom, isn't actually a mushroom but instead a mold. It parasitizes members of the Russula or Lactarius genuses and completely covers them in a red-orange mold, as well as making their caps infundibuliform instead of just simply depressed. They're also meant to taste like lobster too (from my experience they have the texture of lobster but have more of a seafood taste).

• There's a blue mushroom called Lactarius indigo. it's blue and i think thats cool.

(all images are from wikipedia cuz im too lazy to actually find these out in the wild (especially cuz this isn't their prime growing season in the midwest of north america atm))

(fly agarics are psychadelic too yk (theyre also poisonous if you eat too much of it (like a cap) but can be made edible if you boil it for a while))
