Patch 2.0.4 Full Changelog - New Bank, Lootruns & More!

    Hello everyone!

    Today's update is primarily focused on Lootruns. We've changed a lot of things based on your feedback and what we've learned in the past 2 months. It's a smaller update than 2.0.3 at first glance, but it does also contain big changes to some of our backend systems and, over time, it will allow us to bring Wynncraft to the modern age.

    With that in mind, we plan to drop support for Minecraft version 1.15 and lower before 2024. If you are still using these versions to play Wynncraft, please upgrade as soon as possible to avoid any interruptions. It will be worth the inconvenience. We're working on some very exciting stuff we can't wait to show you.

    Anyway, let's talk about today's update!

    [​IMG] | Character Banks

    As many of you know, banks in Wynncraft are shared across all of your characters. Today, we're bringing a new type of bank that is unique per character. Items in there are not shared, and if you delete that character, it will also delete the content of their bank.

    Similar to the Misc. Bucket and Tome Bookshelf, ranks can unlock more pages. You can access it through the regular bank GUI. The account-wide bank stays unchanged, so it's overall a big increase in storage space for everyone. The first time you open your bank, all of your soulbound items will be moved to their appropriate character's bank.

    The default bank is the character one, so don't panic too much the first time you open it and see it empty


    [​IMG] | Improved Render Distance

    Our previous render distance is something that bothered us quite considerably over the years. The Wynncraft world is vast and with the previous render distance, it was virtually impossible to sense the proper dimension of it making it severely underwhelming. With the new distance, the world feels much bigger around you.

    We've made significant improvements to chunk loading. This allows us to increase the render distance while also saving a lot on server performance! Note that the increased render distance is only for players using versions 1.16+. Older versions will still work (for now), but may suffer a worsened experience. If you are still using Minecraft 1.15 or lower, we recommend you upgrade to the highest Minecraft version to play Wynncraft.

    This update delivers a lot of game-changing behaviors to lootruns!


    [​IMG]New Camps
    [​IMG]As we promised last update, we're introducing new lootrun camps! They are the Molten Heights Hike and the Sky Islands Exploration. The latter has these peculiar clouds scattered around that will launch you forward when touched. They can greatly help you get around!

    We've also replaced all barriers we previously added to stop camping with various types of anti-camping measures.

    [​IMG]Missions is a brand new mechanic in Lootruns!
    [​IMG]Once you complete your 4th challenge, you will be offered a mission out of 3. After completing a short task, you will gain powerful perks that can completely change the rest of your run.

    [​IMG]Some beacons have changed!
    [​IMG]These red & green beacon changes are somewhat experimental and we may revert them if it leads to hours-long lootruns becoming too prevalent/effective.


    [​IMG][​IMG]Grey Beacon
    • New Effect: Choose a Mission out of 3. Aqua and Vibrant Boosts increase the amount of choices.
    • Max 3 per run
    • Can only appear starting from Challenge #5
    [​IMG] Grey beacons will not appear if you already have a mission active. They will also slowly stop appearing over time if they are offered too many times without being picked.

    [​IMG][​IMG]Yellow Beacon
    • New Effect: Spawn 1 Flying Chest with boosted loot bonus. Aqua and Vibrant Boosts increase the amount of chests.
    [​IMG]It was hard to quantify the effectiveness of Yellow Beacons in their previous iteration. In this version, it is more obvious what yellow beacons do and the added loot bonus recreates a closer experience to pre-2.0.3 loot chests. Boons and Missions that give bonuses for every item offered also benefit from the increased loot bonus.

    [​IMG][​IMG]Orange Beacon
    • New Effect: Gain +1 Beacon Choice for 5 Challenges. Aqua and Vibrant Boosts increase the duration.
    • Is now more common
    • No longer has a limit
    [​IMG]Orange Beacons are particularly strong because they indirectly make rare beacons more common by reducing the beacon pool. Adding a challenge duration has the effect of still being useful for a while without deciding the viability of an entire run by itself.

    [​IMG][​IMG]Dark Grey Beacon
    • Reduced the amount of End Reward Pulls gained (5 -> +3)
    [​IMG][​IMG]Aqua Beacon
    • No longer has a limit
    • Can no longer be offered more than 1 time in a row
    [​IMG][​IMG]Red Beacon
    • No longer has a limit
    • Can no longer be offered more than 1 time in a row
    [​IMG][​IMG]Green Beacon
    • No longer has a limit
    • Can no longer be offered more than 1 time in a row

    [​IMG]Silverbull Syndicate
    [​IMG]We're hoping that some of these beacon & syndicate changes will make medium-length runs as viable and equivalent in rewards-per-time-spent than long runs. We still want god runs to happen and be rewarding, but their oppressiveness forced a time commitment of 2 hours to be optimal which is too much and not something every player can consistently afford.
    • Assistant II now unlocks the Green Beacon
    • Assistant III now unlocks the Interlude speed bonus
    • Sentinel II now increases the default beacon choice by +1
    • Elite I now unlocks the Grey Beacon

    [​IMG]Boons, Curses & More
    [​IMG]
    Boons and Curses have been modified!
    • Increased the likelihood of damage and health-related boons being offered
    • These Boons have been buffed:
      • Slowrunner
      • Killstreak
      • Bad Omens
      • Madman
      • Patient Champion
    • Nerfed the amount of damage and health Boons can give
    • Reduced the maximum amount of Resistance Curse mobs can reach (90 -> 84%)
    • Curses of the same type will now be merged in the Status Effect list to save space
    • Added a 100 Challenges cap to Lootruns

    [​IMG]New Rewards: Corkian Augments
    [​IMG]In this patch, we're adding 2 new consumables you can use while identifying items: the Corkian Insulator and Corkian Simulator. They will be part of the weekly Lootrun rewards. Keep in mind they are very rare.

    [​IMG]With the Insulator, you can choose 1 ID to protect while rerolling an item. This means that this particular ID will not reroll and will stay static. This only works for one reroll and consumes the augment.
    [​IMG]With the Simulator, you can reroll an item without increasing its reroll count. That means that the cost of identifying will not increase. This only works for one reroll and consumes the augment.

    [​IMG]The Simulator and Insulator cannot be used together at the same time, but they can be used individually in combination with Amplifiers.


    [​IMG]New Reward: End Reward Sacrifices
    [​IMG]In addition to being able to gain End Reward Rerolls during Lootruns, you can now also get Sacrifices! When used, you will sacrifice your rewards from this lootrun in order to transfer 50% of your Pulls into your next Lootrun. The % transferred increases if you get more Sacrifices.


    [​IMG]New Major IDs
    [​IMG]These Major IDs are on new items you can find in the new Lootrun Camp rewards.
    • Gruesome Knots: Twisted Tether spends twice as much of your Blood Pool to deal triple damage
    • Coagulate: Blood Connection launches you further and higher upon teleporting to a nearby Totem
    • Dead Weight: Totem's horizontal velocity is greatly increased at the cost of vertical movement
    • Expunge: When using Heal, instead cast one instant pulse that heals 20% of your max health

    [​IMG] | New Gamemode: Ultimate Ironman

    With the new character banks, we're making changes to the Ironman gamemode.

    Ironman: Will now be able to access their character bank, but not their account bank.
    Ultimate Ironman: This new gamemode works the same way as the old Ironman did. Characters will not be able to access any bank.

    Current Ironman characters will automatically be changed to Ultimate Ironman. You also now have the ability to use the /ironman command to remove the ironman gamemode from your character or downgrade it. This action is permanent.

    Character banks will not have any rank requirement if you are using an Ironman character. This is still a work in progress and won't be available on the beta right away.

    We've reworked our APIs and tools to be able to offer more interesting leaderboards and stats page. It's not quite ready yet, but you can expect new types of leaderboards, including ones made for specific gamemode characters.

    • Fixed bugs with the Hive token collectors
    • Fixed a dialogue numbering error for Aledar's post-dungeon interaction
    • Fixed an issue where you could reroll the buff selection in raids
    • Added a failsafe to the quest Hunters Calling
    • Fixed an issue where some items didn't show the right sprite
    • Adjusted the gathering speed and respawn time of several alternate resources
    • Made Caissop's Master Piece untradable
    • Updated the Jeweling Recipe Changes (Bracelet- 2:1 gems:oil, Necklaces- 3:1 gems:oil)
    • Fixed various typos
    • Added failsafe to Dwarves and Doguns 3
    • Fixed spelling error in a Dernel Jungle cave description
    • Added a failsafe in the quest Recover the past
    • Added the XP reward back in the quest Grave Digger
    • Fixed the Underworld Crypt platform fights
    • Fixed an exploit with raids
    • Added a failsafe in the quest Order of the Grook
    • Added extra failsafes to the Nameless Anomaly raid
    • Fixed the rotation of players exiting the Wine Cave in Detlas Suburbs.
    • Added new Void Holes in the Silent Expanse to ease movement between the lower and upper area

    As usual with betas, they aren't designed to make sweeping changes to systems. The amount of players who helps test is a little too low for that. There's also a difference in the way people play on betas versus on the live servers. Betas are great for finding bugs and things we missed, but for making big changes to the system it's more effective to get feedback from all players once it is released. We will continue to tweak and improve the system in future updates.
