Can we get clarification on the legality of using the resource pack?

Wynncraft's resource pack, as of somewhere around 2.0's release, has been changed to be unreadable without .jar decrypting. This didn't stop many from changing and investigating it anyways, but it brings up a question. Was this simply an artifact of how it was compressed, or are we not supposed to be touching it at all besides using it in Wynncraft? I was discussing this with someone over discord, and they had asked several moderators about it, getting 3 different responses. This isn't anywhere in the rules as far as I'm aware, so I do feel it's necessary to have a concrete answer written somewhere for something like this.

 

I think it's a way to make avoid other players stealing it and using the textures on other servers. Many servers use this technique, even though it's not hard to decompress it anyway...

I'd like to know if that's the case, if anyone from the Wynn team can clarify.

 

If there is a tool that lets you decompress the current Wynncraft pack, I would love to see it. Previous tools no longer work, it seems.

People have in fact stolen Wynn textures in the past and Salted has had to send an orbital strike to them.
