    1. The Wiki says the player who does the lethal damage gets notified of a soul, but sometimes multiple people get notified.
    2. The Wiki also says having a soul is collective, meaning the entire team gains the same soul and it's just you are not notified, but watching a player kill the shrub and then stepping on would sometimes knock you off saying you don't have a soul.
    3. In addition, sometimes watching a team player deposit a soul and then stepping on again would still allow you to deposit a soul, meaning it isn't a collective soul.
    4. How much time does the portal actually stay open? If you deposit a shrub while it is open, does it extend the timer (meaning you should put it in immediately) or reset the timer/gets chewed up and does nothing (meaning you should wait until it closes)
    5. If the soul is collective, why is there no meta strategy to have someone constantly kill and constantly deposit? There seems to be no meta strategy and most just deposit after they get notified sometimes causing stacks (which should be impossible based on a "collective soul")

    1. Everyone who dealt damage to the soul shrub gets a soul.
    2. Souls are given individually.
    3. See above.
    4. Putting a soul in while the door is open does not extend the time the door is open.
    5. See number 2.

Sometimes when you damage the shrub you don't get notified (not sure if you actually do get a soul) meaning it might be percentage-based or/and proximity-based. If it isn't (it is inconsistent in my testing), then shouldn't the meta strategy be to designate a person to kill it and a person to hit it once then go to wait next to the altar until it dies and deposit it?

Also, if the shrub is individual based is the beginning soul everyone get also individual meaning you can deposit it 4 times max without killing shrubs?

Someone should also edit the wiki if it is individual based

    maybe there's a damage threshold?

I’ll hit a shrub with one ice snake while depositing a souls at the start, and then go into the tree, and get a soul when the shrub is killed.

They might have changed it since there seems to be some sort of damage threshold or proximity as sometimes you won’t get it.

This wouldn’t matter though because if the soul is individual, the beginning soul players get should be able to be used 4 times if each player deposits it
