that's kinda broad and hard to narrow down but typically you just want to avoid any mods that allow you access (physically and visually) to the outside of the main map. So if you're using the replay mod, you're allowed to use it but just know that you have restrictions.

Mods that may be useful would be performance enhancement mods, Artemis provides QoL enhancements (some may refer to as Wynntils, Artemis is just a newer updated version of it).

This isn't exactly a mod but if you're looking into macros be sure to read the rules on those as you can get in big trouble if you use it incorrectly (although imo you should just play the game like a normal person)

Wynntils/Artemis and Optifine are the only mods you will need, but if wynntils is giving you performance issues I recommend you use the wynncraft map and another spell macro mod as it will save you finger cramps when using mid/lategame spellspam builds. Just know that wynncraft only allows 3 clicks with one key (1 keybind = 1 spell cast) so something like one key RLL for shaman's aura attack is legal but something like one key RLR-RRR is not legal as it casts two spells with one key.
