SPOILER Death in Beyond the Grave and Corrupter of Worlds

So in Beyond the Grave you meet Death and he reveals that something something dying multiple times but he also says that

• Death: THAT, AND I RECEIVED SOME POSTAGE, SHALL WE SAY. SOMEONE IS INVESTED IN YOUR CONTINUED SURVIVAL.

Does anyone know who this someone could be?

Now relating to the corrupter of world, the mage you speak to says that multiple people have killed COW before you but he's still fine. Is his unique form of corruption constantly reviving him or is death doing something? Could this be why the Twains had to seal him instead of just having Bob or someone kill him?

 

If I had to guess probably Orphion bc you are his 'pulse' and can stop the dern beast or smthn like that.

I actually interpreted that this someone is Salted, as the quest basically explains respawning, which is a fundamental mechanic from the game (otherwise you know, it wouldn't be playable), and who is running said game? Salted. I think it fits because the whole quest has a lot of irony, too.

 

I think it's actually Bob. The dark beast of the night in a land far away is actually Death, and Bob sacrificed himself so the player could get a come-back-to-life-free card from Death and constantly be revived. Why would Bob do this?

That leads us to the big reveal: the player is Orphion.

It all makes sense, doesn't it? Bob sacrificed himself so that the Light could live on. And this is why Orphion refers to the player as his "pulse." Because the player IS Orphion. We know from a secret discovery that Bob met with Orphion in the Realm of Light at some point during his lifetime, so it's possible that he made a deal with Orphion. This is also why Laris smells and is a completely irredeemable character.

 

So the player is orphiin and fights orphion?

 

No, the player is an astral projection of Orphion, and Orphion is using his astral projection to fight the parasite on the astral plane. Think of your immune system. Also is it really that hard to comprehend that Orphion would defend himself against the parasite?

The quest is silly and goofy, and it's impact on the canon is dubious. It's probably just that you the player wants your character to stay alive so you can keep playing. I wouldn't look to Beyond the Grave for lore info

I don't know how the quest makes sense, to revive in the game, people needs to murder whatever murdered them. I don't really understand how do you revive if you fell off the cliff and died because fall damage, or some other, not caused by being killed by a monster or people reason.

 

The quest is more of a joke than anything actually impacting the story. Reviving is more of a gameplay mechanic than a story mecuanic

 

Also why does it kill krolton in the quest when you have to rekill the thing that killed you every other time
