need help with the Tribal Sanctuary Boss Altar for "The Passage"

I need to do this quest in order to level up, but the boss has a ton of hp and I keep running out of health potions. Can anyone give me a hand?

Can you share the equipment you're using?
(also, the quest is really only important for the eponymous passage, which gives a much shorter route between the Pigman ravines (basically, Ragni) and Troms. grinding herb cave or Undergrowth Ruins is faster than quests at level 50ish)

 

and the mask is important... gotta remember the mask...

the masks are very good armor pieces at level

 

I actually ended up beating the boss less than a day after i posted this
