New Version of Light Dust Cave?

Hey, so I'm doing the Temple of Legends questline. I'm up to the cave to get the light dust, but it seems like it was majorly updated. Every guide I've seen has the old version where you can just rush through, do parkour, and pick up the dust. Now there are waves of mandatory mobs, then the parkour, and then boss mobs that it says you have to defeat in 100 something seconds. I finally got there... and I was booted out. I was fighting the boss with 80 seconds to go. I know I didn't die because I didn't lose any soul points and was placed back at the start of the cave. I checked my inventory, no light dust either. What am I missing? I'm so confused and haven't found any info online other than someone else on the forum mentioning that there was a change to the cave and that they were dying to the waves.

 

You may have accidentally backed out of the exit. I did that once. It's not locked while the boss is still alive.

 

That's probably it. So many quests lock off exits that that never even occurred to me as a possibility. I'll try again and be mindful of the exit. Thank you, was worried about it being bugged at first or something.

 

The exit thing is going to be an issue later as well in the quest "Reincarnation".
