What’s after Dern?

Currently, us Wynners have been looking at the closest updates for lore: Fruma + Dern. But what’s after that? I personally love the idea of Dern lore and can’t wait to get a look at it, but I recently realize that we’ve mostly been overlooking a third part of the lore: the realm of war.
The Nether (what I assume to be the realm of war), as been out of the game for a while, which I think makes it a prime target for the true final area of the game. As the first of the three realms the player character experiences the effects of, it would make for a test circular ending to the whole Wynn saga and could be a great way to add in new characters or bring a bunch of the old together. One of these could be a third beast, even more mysterious and omnipotent than the other two, making them clash for its own gain.
If this does eventually get added, the quest to access it would be cool for it be called something like “A Need to go Deeper”, in reference to the Vanilla achievement.
I love Wynn lore and cannot wait to see where it goes. I thought I might add some of my own fan fiction to it, as I think it has some possibility of being true.

I do think we will be able to access the realm of war at some point, but a beast of corruption would make 0 sense. It would imply that the corruption has a mind, instead of being the mindless idea/force that has been shown throughout the game.

A hole will open up in the middle of the ocean once you beat the dern beast, and entering that hole will take you to a makeshift replica of hypickle skyblock where you will be tormented to an eternity of grinding.

Jokes aside, they probably will do more QoL updates such as updating the ocean or other areas that are outdated, fleshing out the lore/story of other regions (like Gavel Reborn update did), and as the OP mentioned, possibly re-adding the nether as some form of endgame content (maybe similar to the wilderness on OSRS, though I don't really like the idea of a region where PvP is forced unless entering there is fully optional).

I don't think they will add another full region at this point since it's kind of established that Dern is the final frontier when it comes to the story. There also doesn't seem to be much wiggle room to fit in other regions into the game's already existing lore, outside of maybe revamping the nether in a way where we can maybe "repair the damage" after the war between Orphion and dern beast is ceased.

I'd argue that after Dern they should also try to make a long term endgame cycle that will retain players longer than raids/lootrunning/profs, though that will be difficult in design.

 

Probably, like others have said, a redesigned version of the Realm of War. I've been expecting this since the beginning, as corruption is the first evil force the player encounters. Having it also be the final region seems fitting.
