Official Event The Festival of the Blizzard Contest Winners!

Hey you all!

The winners of the contest are finally here!

(All the winning submissions are included)


A few submissions scored the same amount of points (which seems to occur more and more as events go) so we again decided to award them the same spot!

With no news from the previous winner and no proof of anything, the next person in the ranking has been awarded the prize!

We will make changes for the next contest, we will see what format it will take, i have already discussed it here

Spoiler: A possible idea

We will do some changes that will be explain later (i've already talked about them on discord), but we will probably change the format to make the submissions visible to everyone, which would serve as a validation system.

Like for example (take that with a grain of salt because that's just ideas for now), you submit on the form, with a link to a thread you made in your work with the prefix "contest sub" or something, everyone can see it, in the main contest thread is a list of the unvalidated contest subs, then after a week if no one raises questions and we are all good with it (people would be able to talk about the art in each of the submissions threads), we manually change the prefix to "Heroes 2023" or something and put it in the "validated" column and it will be judged. We may add a community vote for like a top 3 of all the validated submissions, but we will need to find restrictions to avoid vote bombing ideally, i don't know if that's even possible at this point in time (we may not able to do it, but we will see, we may add like a "most creative" prize instead decided by the judges if we can't properly do a community vote). All this would also mean it would take more time to organise, do and review contests in general. We get between 50 and 100 submissions usually so it will require work.

Nothing is set in stone right now, but we will need to have the submissions validated by the community i think, so everyone can see what everyone else is doing, we will see how we can improve the format.

This is why AI art was a mistake.

 

If AI art can win these then I've truly lost faith in contests like these, damn.

man im happy i won but also pretty pissed that a 5th place slot was stolen from someone who would have put actual effort into their art

I have seen the 5th place piece. It is blatantly AI art. The fact that nobody recognized this is baffling and it is fucking unacceptable that the hard and amazing work of so many talented artists was rejected in place of it. The AI art wasn't even good, in fact it actually looks quite bad, especially the 2nd image. GG to all the actual artists who won though

 

AI art aside, I want to congratulate everyone else who’s art is featured here, you all made some incredible stuff!
