Mage/Dark Wizard Help newbie here, what am i doing wrong?

Hey everyone, i started playing a couple days ago, and ive just hit lvl 83, all this while using gear reccomended in a couple of videos i watched, i wanted to level up to 100, and to do that i was considering farming xp at scrapyard, a location that from what i understand gets reccomended to lvl up, however when i went there with the gear that a guy in a video reccomended to use, i got demolished, so i was wandering if i was doing something wrong with the build itself or if im just not supposed to farm there cuz they buffed something after the video or smt, the build is champion set with bob's mythical wand, 2 rarities a remikas' authority and hexed hamulet. As i said i really don't know much about builds, so please if u think this gear is not good or smt, suggestions to at least survive there would be helpful.

maybe im just not supposed to farm there alone, but even in a party i get kinda destroyed, so i was also wandering if there was some other leveling spot for lvl 83 to 100 with the gear i have, any input would be helpful, also sorry if this is a common and stupid question but as i said i know basically nothing so id like to get an actual answer and not just "use this and farm there".

You should grind with other people, and assign all extra points into defense. If you still are dying, consider using lightbender for healing.

 

Get in a party to grind, find one in /pfinder
Your armor looks ok for the lvl, use it until you can get something better around lvl90

 

That would be morph gale’s sight for leveling.

 

just put on 7/8 morph with gale's sight
or third eye
but gale's sight is better

 

You're not doing anything wrong, it's just that scrapyard is high xp high difficulty (relative to the sort of mobs you'd find just wandering around).
