Guide How to extract skins / Some well-known NPCs' skins

This guide will tell you how to extract any skin used in Wynncraft (or any other Minecraft server), and it contains a collection of skins that are already extracted.

How to extract a skin

1. (Optional, but recommended) Clear your skin cache. In order to make it easier to later find the desired skin among all the files, I recommend you clear your cache of skins beforehand. The effect of this is that Minecraft will have to redownload every skin you come across, but that neither affects performance nor is it very important information. This also will not affect the skins you have in your Minecraft launcher.
   
   To do this, navigate to the .minecraft folder, then to assets/skins. You'll find a heap of folders with names all two characters long. Delete these folders.
   
   
2. Find the skin in-game. In order to ensure your desired skin is cached, you'll have to find and approach the mob or NPC in-game.
   
   
3. Navigate to .minecraft/assets/skins. You'll want to move all the loose files in all the subfolders into one separate folder. On Windows, type * into the search bar in the top right. This should show you all the separate files. Copy them to a separate, empty folder.
   
   
4. Change the file extensions to .png. You can either do this manually, which will take ages in the case of hundreds of files, or (if you have Windows) you can type in cmd in the address bar of the folder to open command prompt for that folder. Execute the following command:

   Edit 25/04/'24: If you're having trouble bulk renaming files using the above method, try using Bulk Rename Utility. Drag the files into the program, select all using CTRL+A, then in the Add section, put .png in the Suffix bit and hit Rename.

5. Dig through the files to find the desired skins. The files include player heads as well. The more skins you encounter between clearing your cache and finding the skin you want, the more skins you'll have to dig through. And that's all there is to it!

It should be noted that many of the skins i posted were not harvested from the game but rather grabbed from NameMC. I thought I'd share them since this is basically a skin sharing thread

 

These are really nice! One of the reasons I've collected some skins is because I'd like to see if I (or anyone else if they want to) can make cinematics/machinimas, kinda like the channels of yore. My scrap tutorial video was a test for downloading skins and using the CosmicNPCs mod, and these class skins will certainly come in handy. Take a look:
