    we get ddos all the time and it's partly the reason why server hosting can get so expensive. this one in particular was just really big compared to the usual

    yea. if you have a semi-big server you need some protection or you'll be down constantly. back in 2011 the craftedmovie server had maybe 20 players and it was still getting ddos weekly lol

    whoever owns the botnet probably needed advertising for their ddos service, and crashing a popular minecraft server is a good way to get that
