What is an ecocave?

I heard this term before. What does it mean?

 

a cave containing high-tiered chests. Sometimes they have puzzles or mob-slaying sections that are necessary to access said chests.

 

Eco caves are like mini dungeons. They have parkour and bosses and sometimes puzzles and mob slaying sections. They also tend to be a lot larger than normal caves.

 

Why are they called ecocaves?

 

I'm pretty sure eco is short for economy, because the chests at the end can contain a lot of emerald and valuable gear and materials.

 

in 1.18, they reworked loot chests in wynn. They moved all t3 and t4 chests to "eco-caves" which were caves made specifically for the economy update. They were meant to spice up exploration and make t3/t4 chests more combat/parkour/puzzle focused. The update was called the economy update, and that's where the name is from, since most of those caves are still around today, with some small changes.

 

It should be noted that eco caves don't have to be literal caves. For example, the fungal grove area in Kander is an eco cave, despite being entirely on the surface (The chests are ontop of the mushrooms).
