Status Indication on mobs

The other day I was refighting Qira for the millionth time because I was bored and wanted a non raid challenge after tiring myself out with orphion in NoL. I'm using a build with riftwalker's winded effect and noticed that the "status" effect wouldn't trigger on her but it would the spider minions within the room. (well it kinda did but that only happened when one of the spiders died with winded and even still only gave her 1 winded which vanished quickly). Since doing other content since then I've noticed a couple other mobs have that same effect of being immune to winded like virus doctor in LI but other "mini" bosses like Gale gets afflicted. Even other big bosses like orphion and greg aren't immune.

Is there any specific indication for when a mob is immune to effects like these or it just dumb luck to know if it is gonna work or not?

 

Hmm...I'm not aware of any mobs being immune to Winded. After all, that would completely ruin the whole point of Riftwalker. How are you going about applying the Winded to Qira?

 

Just main attack in this case. Applies just fine to the spiders but qira seems indifferent to it.

Though now that I think on it may have an hypothesis... Qira, Virus Doctor, and Robob are highly defensive against elements and the wand im using "The Nothing" does lackluster melee damage. You reckon because the main damage is so bad and is getting cancelled by their high ele def that the melee hit doesn't proc causing the winded effect from melee to not apply? My other source of damage LightWeaver's orbs do enough damage to break through the defense but main attack damage is far lower. Could atleast explain how she got it from the spiders but not my attack itself...

 

Hmm...I'll try doing a test later today to see if I experience the same issue. Is it any specific phase or can you not tell?

 

all seemed the same to me. I noticed it initially on the first phase because I noticed my damage was subpar strangely so I was looking for that winded indicator specifically and didn't see one.

 

i would assume it has something to do with cci. do you have the atree upgrade that makes your winded apply a damage debuff to the mobs?

If you deal no damage with main attacks, the winded isn’t applied. Qira’s high eledefs are probably nullifiying your attacks.

 

Yep, winded doesn't apply to tourutos either!

 

Yup, Qira has 300 rainbow defs and this build has purely elemental melee damage (with an average of 27 melee dmg)

So yeah, the nothing is getting walled by Qira. Man, this whole 0 damage melees don't count is very annoying. Guess I'll just have to build arcanist

Just checked and yup, virus doctor has TFA defs too (You also won't be able to winded last Matrojan idol phase, Dr. Legendary phase, and every robob phase)

 

Explains a lot why Virus doctor and Robob were a slog to get through when I was going through LI. Funny how certain features come around to hinder others. Learn new stuff about your common features every day
