SPOILER If Dern and the Light are opposites... why do they agree?

just doing AHC for the 16th time and had a thought.

Why does the Light agree with Dern when it comes to golems??

In the RoL questline we are given a choice to either kill the mayor or the golem scientist. In that, the correct choice is the mayor, as it is worth sacrificing the few to save the many

Why then, does the gatekeeper to Dern have you go through a scinario where you do that exact thing?

 

To me the realms are pretty similar in terms of morals (they both do not really care about the way to do thing as long as it gets the job done) though they are both against each other more out of either hatred for eachother/ they are territorial with both of them wanting to expand with dern having the upper hand in doing so because they have been out in the silent expanse longer than orphion has been in light forest.

 

Basically what Flugel said, in the RoL questline it is stated that Orphion has no morals: there just needs to be action. Both the Light and Darkness want to thrive. It's like a virus; it simply spreads and consumes. Orphion and the Beast of Dern don't take into account the morals of their actions because that is irrelevant to their goal

You have to sacrifice a few to save the many because the more people that die, the more the Darkness spreads. The Light wants the opposite of this, which is why killing the mayor is the correct choice.

As to why you do the exact same thing in AHC, my guess is because you're still murdering innocent people. Even though it's to protect others, the act of deceiving people and murdering them is truly dark and sinister, and blood spilled just fuels the Darkness more

 

Honestly this is further reason as to why that part of the quest line should be changed

 

Yeah really, it kinda fucking sucks that you get forced into a moral path, and it completely undercuts both the questline prior and to some extent the whole ROL questline.

 

I mean that moral dilemma shouldn’t be a problem for you since you are literally Satan.

Who said The Gatekeeper at all represented all of Dern? The Gatekeeper is pretty against the war of the realms, it seems, as they actively call stuff like cities falling - and yes - golem creation "evil".

AHC is not about helping darkness or corruption, and specifically states that you are not becoming dark or corrupted. In the scenarios you encounter you just cause as much anguish as possible, but they're just scenarios. They're "what ifs".

I have something to suggest about morality and golem use, and let me know if my idea is flawed.

Why don't people use machines from Corkus to to defend people? They have bloody tones of machines on the island. Also in The Feathers Fly Part 1, a shop owner locks up his shop by activating a whole arsenal of robots, essentially turning the surrounding area into a battlefield I feel like they've got more than enough resources to protect Wynn and Gavel instead of luring and murdering innocent people (a decent majority of the citizens in Wynncraft are idiots anyway )

 

Corkian machines only just recently started making it into the other provinces, and only the most basic types of machine. Not to mention the fact that most of corkus's mechs are like, actively rebelling? The envoy quest specifically goes over why they are keeping the mechs a secret from the other provinces.

The reason why the other provinces don't have mechs yet is because corkus is still keeping them hidden. Corkus will never be able to start distributing the Mechs to the provinces that need them without the player's intervention in the envoy questline.

 

They should make AHC like undertale (kinda). Like depending on what you've done before on that class, the quest will change accordingly or smth,
